I ordered some 2.5" spacers for my 2013 Ram 1500 2WD. I went to install them the other day and it just wasn't happening. I'm hoping someone can lend some advice to assist me.

The actual spacer height is 2.5" but the height between the spring and the mount is 1.5".

Using a spring compressor (aka suicide stick) I was able to wrestle the spring and spacer into position. I started to jack up the lower arm and it stopped compressing the spring and started lifting the truck. The problem is that I still had a good 1.5-3" of space needed in order to get the ball joint into the spindle and a nut started on it.

So after many attempts I pulled everything back off and put them aside until I could cool off and ask the experts on here.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I believe that's the same kit. The amount of spacer that rests between the coil and tower is 1.5". The other inch of the spacer is where the coil spring sits in.

I would suggest using a pry bar and jacking up as far out on the lower control arm as you can.

Has anyone found a solution to this? I seem to be having similar problems installing this kit. I'm about ready to throw the stock boot back on and take it to a shop.

You need to loosen the lower control arm bolts. Just loosen them, the arm will fall down another 2" or so. Then use a spring compressor that slides inside the spring. Don't use the strut compressors, you need an actual coil spring compressor.

Then compress the spring as much as you safely can, no air tools.

Put the spacer on top of the spring and put it in place. It's still going to be a little tight. Then wrap a chain around the upper control arm and the front bar on your jack, when you jack up the lower control arm the chain will prevent the truck from raising and allow you to install the nut on the ball joint.

No problem. It's a PITA for sure. But it can be done!

Just take your time and be safe.

Does the 1.5" kit have the same issue with poping the ball joint out? or is that just the 2.5" kit? Because there was a notice sent out a few years back for techs to look for this and void warranties

I thought that was only a 4x4 issue?

While I'm here I figured I'd post an update. I did get it installed that night. Loosening the LCA Bolts made it way easier. My only problem now, is that it sounds like something is hitting whenever I'm going down something like a speed bump.

Did you keep your factory shocks?

Did you load your suspension prior to tightening up the top shock nut?

I would take the tires off, jack under the A-Arm to load the suspension. And see if the shock is still snug.

It might be loose under load which is causing the upper control arm to make contact with the spring cup/mount.
