They most likely buy them straight from FCA so if FCA is backordered so are they. But they are really not worth it. I haven’t heard one good thing about them

So I added a cargo camera to my 2015 ram with 17.43.01 and installed the wiring harness for it. And of course it did not work after enabling it with Alfaobd. The LED light works good with no errors. What are my options to making the camera work? Buying a used radio off 2016-2018 Ram? If I do that, will I need a dealer to program it or is it plug and play? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Is your backup camera working? Rule of thumb the 13 to 15 radios show the backup camera in the rearview mirror when the truck is equipped with a Cargo Cam. There was a firmware update 17.11.07 which had a glitch that allowed the 13 to 15 radios to display both the backup camera and cargo cam on the screen. This was corrected with the 17.43.01 update. They changed the format for the 16 and 17 trucks for both images to display on the radio screen. The 16 and 17 radios will show both the cargo cam and the backup cam on the screen no matter what year truck they are installed in. Are you sure the code is in the truck? Do you have the cargo cam in your app screen like this?f40264d4b69e57e0c9e4c595d1458029.jpg

Not sure if I have the file, but I know for sure there have been others that used a 14 Canadian Ra4 VP4-CA nav radio that may have it. Per post 7 @jdip had one at some point.
Hopefully someone will reply.

Would i have to do each firmware up to the most recent or can i go straight to the newest one?

You should be able to go to the latest one but I would stop at 17.11.x if possible (vs 17.43.x) so it can support backup and Cargo cam (can be used for front cam) units at the same time.

Found an unverified 17.43.01 2014 VP4-CA file i got from someone else (can't recall who) and I am uploading it now. My notes say it was used on PN 68224537AN 2014 Ram 1500 Longhorn, 68224537AE 2014 Ram 1500 Sport. Canada ?

I'll add the link here once its loaded. You will need to reference the 2014 17.43.x directions from Post 3 and use it at your own risk. Let me know if it works out.

Confirmed Canadian 4th Gen 2019 classic UAS radio PN 68340153AJ ...
Thanks Canadian Mopar !

Can confirm that 68340153AJ is the Canadian P/N for the radio without nav. Got it installed last night and works perfect. Radio was originally out of a 2019 Ram 1500 Classic. Now I just need to track down a center console (with the media hub) out of a 2018.
Got an unlock code from the local dealer no hassle (even though they had only done it once before).

Pretty confident I can confirm working:

Head unit part number 68312543AD, VP4 NA on the back. Info on the net about this one was pretty scarce, Googling it seems to track it back to 2018 Cherokee but it was sold to me as out of a RAM (per the VIN and the stock number from the yard)

On connection and bootup it worked, but nav was stuck where the truck crashed (New Mexico). it would move around on the map while I drove but never reset to my area (Connecticut). Also displayed the "navigation calibration required" message on screen, telling me to drive to a main street with open view of sky. I did just that but no go. In fact I went on a couple 20 minute trips with it but it still never reset. Also tried a reset to factory defaults through the engineering menu, which made it *worse*....zero GPS connectivity and stuck in San Antonio.

Feared the worst, something busted inside from the accident (specifically the stupid Sierra wireless card). Had nothing much to lose at this point so I downloaded the latest firmware per the VIN, cleared a USB and set off to update.

Update went fine, wasnt totally expecting that (again, feared a bad Sierra card). Shut the truck down and let it sit for an hour.

After a 10 minute drive, nav actually locked into my real location. So far everything seems to work (I have not activated XM yet, though). EVIC turn by turn, etc. As does custom voice replies to text, which is the main reason I wanted this unit.

Interesting notes:

1. It was sold as a non-nav unit. But pictures and VIN number said it was indeed a VP4. Moral of story: know yer stuff and check the pics, dont just believe descriptions.

2. after using the update the head unit part now shows as 68312543AE

Keeping an eye out for this...
Appears they are pushing another over the air update for the RA3/4 radios. I saw a few posts on the Cummins forum and now have a confirmed update to version 18.11.07. Of course I can find no info about the update but it seems to be rolling out.

Anyone seen it yet on here or have any info?

Does the cell bypass prevent ota updates from getting to the truck?

BTW I got an email last week saying an update was coming. Curious if my ra4 replacement will get it and if so, how soon.

I doubt your RA4 will get the update and if it did the update would most likely be for the RA3 radio attached to your Vin#. If by some chance your truck tries to update I would deffinently stop it unless your sure it's for an RA4 and not an RA3. Non of us get the updates with the cell bypass antenna but none of our trucks came with the 8.4 radio so we aren't connected to Uconnect. You can get any updates that might be for your new radio by going to Uconnect and typing in your doner Vin# from the vehicle your radio came out of. If there are any updates you can download them directly from the website.

I would stop it for sure, my only worry is that stopping it seemed to not be enough for some people on the forum. The update was pushed anyway.

Honestly didnt even think about it coming down based on VIN, so there is yet another reason to worry! Wrong file for the now installed head unit. I would hope the head unit is smart enough to bomb out of the update if its not the correct file, but who knows with UConnect/FCA.

It won't flash the wrong file. I've tried...
