Well I'm totally piggybacking on a fantastic thread here in the DIY section ...
How To: 13-14 premium cluster upgrade - DODGE RAM FORUM - Dodge Truck Forums
I didn't want to wreck that GREAT thread !
( I AM NOT BEING SARCASTIC! )
There are a few things I'd like to say that I think some here may Benifit from ?
I've read that some Ram's 13+ may have issues with the TPMS aka Tire Pressure Monitoring System when they upgrade to a 7" premium cluster from the no frills 3" Cluster ?
Seems to be the general way of thinking is that if you have a 13-14 Ram w/ the 3" cluster the TPMS should work with a 13 or 14 premium cluster .....
For a 14 Ram Some say it depends on your build date ( early or late ) hmm?
Well I have a 14 Ram (gas mph ) my build date is an early one September of 2013 .
So , I purchased a 2013 7" Premium cluster P/N 56046544AI S/N T50QI173323413
and a 2016 7" Premium cluster P/N 68280833AC S/N T5MQI213500346
Both from diff members here .
My truck : 2014 Ram 5.7L 1500 4x4 QC
Build date Sept . 2013
The original OEM 3" NON premium cluster installed from the factory in my 2014 Ram Truck was P/N 56054941AE. S/N TO3Q1252340072
FWIW , BOTH of the above clusters one from a 13 Ram and one from a 16 Ram works 100% functionality TO INCLUDE the TPMS IN my 2014 Ram truck ....
The only difference between the two was the 16 Premium cluster has more options in the settings and also works seemlessly with my UPGRADED 2015 RA4 8.4NA RADIO ( my truck is an original RA1 ) , meaning I can Change settings & options in the Evic and it automatically populates the settings and options on the Radio as well ... very nice in deed !
One more thing , the 16 Cluster displays the compass heading whereas the 13 cluster did not ( I do not have a compass module installed ? )
So ....., I'll be installing the 2016 7" Premium cluster in my 2014 Ram ( RA1 Original / 3" cluster / no O/H console & no compass module Original Ram Truck .
Hope this info helps someone out in the future !
Below you will find photos of how I removed & installed the clusters mentioned above .... this is just how I did it , you may do it differently. ... all this removal & installation information has been posted several times ...... Enjoy the photos ...
Step one : disconnect the Neg terminal from the Battery.
#2 Remove the upper shroud from the steering wheel.
T-20 bit ( 2ea. )
Next ...same T-20 bit Remove 4 ea screws from the instrument Bezel here .
This is what I used ...
Next remove the instrument Bezel like so , with a soft plastic wedge tool.
Next utilizing a 7mm socket , remove 2ea small hex head screw retaining the cluster itself .
IMPORTANT STEP!
Lay down a rag or the likes to prevent scratches on the clear instrument screen . And rotate the cluster to gain access to the connector like So ...
Now depress the connectors locking tab here .
And remove the cluster
This is a photo of all 3 of my clusters
Pretty sure you guys can figure out the rest
Hope this encourages others to upgrade their clusters !
A super simple process and took me less than two beers to complete
