FYI I got power from the 7 pin trailer disconnect , RED wire constant 12 vdc , ( not through the ignition ) you can get ground from there too if you'd like the black wire directly across from the power if I remember correctly , I established a chassis ground myself in a convenient location I could use for something else in the future . The 7 pin connector is easy to disassemble for power and or ground . , I mounted my switch like the OP , I put a 1 amp in line fuse between my power wire and the switch .

And my established chassis ground .

Then I enjoyed a cold beverage .

I did something similar. But using no switch. I took my power source off of the exterior cab light. Now everytime I unlock my door, the bed lights light up for 30 seconds. Push the ublock on the fob for another 30. Or if I need longer I can turn them on via tha factory cab light switch on the dash.. works great!

Well I guess this will be another project planned for the truck....Looks sweet guys and thanks for the pics and info for wire tapping. We go camping a lot and lights in the bed will be super helpful.

For the price of materials and simple wiring....This is a great additional for anyone that has a cover.

Been looking for something like this since I installed my TonnoPro hard fold cover months ago

I just bought some LED lights and switch to do this. I installed a Bak Fiber Max cover on the truck and I can't see anything under that cover.

thats a great idea, last time i unloaded a bunch of crap out of the truck i popped open the cover so the rear light could be used. May have to pick up a couple lights and tap into the worklight.

Used mine this past weekend for Deer hunting , it worked perfectly , this is my Bow case @ 5 AM , and the 2nd pictures are the results of my am deer hunt !

No Bruiser , but a good meat management Doe , and my bed lights worked perfectly for my application. .

I got power from the 7 pin trailer lights disconnect. You can get ground from there as well . I opted to establish a chassis ground for other reasons .

This wire is a constant hot 12vdc. I installed a 2 amp in line fuse btween here and the switch installed .

Specifically though, we were looking for where Mitch sourced the cargo light power so we could power them using factory switches.

These look very cool. I love the lights that come on the 2016's, though I'm concerned they may get smashed down the road, because of where they are.

Those of you who went with the coloured LED's (that look unreal BTW), do you have any problems seeing your load at night? Like if you had red LED's and were trying to look for a red shirt etc.
