I want to put some clearance led in my runnning board. I already done that twice, but the led won't last more than few hour.

There is a place that I could hook up the + wire and and where I can put the ground ?

The first try I connected them to a switched 12v cigar plug. Maybe the ground was not so good ?

Also we have hard winter here, so I need to protect every connection from the salt and calcium they put on road. I have the plug for the trailer, but I don't want to splice the wire because the calcium may damage it.

Maybe someone here have installed some led on their truck and have the tricks to plug them with parking light.

Thank you !

that's the type of led I use 3/4" 710JW2ldpVL._SL1500_.jpg

I got into the 7-pin trailer harness and soldered my bed lights to the +12 in the harness. I didn't cut the wire insulation I pulled apart the connector, popped out the pin then popped out the rubber grommet that seals the connector. Solder the wire to the +12 wire metal pin and reassemble with the wire running out of the connector sealed by the rubber grommet in the harness.

For my under the rail lights , both sides , I bought some waterproof LED 12" strips made to go in a live well or bait tank , and a water proof rocker switch from a local boating supply store (you can find Simular @ ***** or Academy sports ) total cost about $30 .00 , I plan on doing the trailer hitch +12vdc & ground as stated above ..

Before I installed my lighted AMP Powersteps, I installed Rigid A Series under the truck. Plenty of light now.

Light mounted to frame, two per side:

Just the A series with retracted running boards, pardon the filthy truck...the roads are nothing but slush and mud here now:

The Rigid A's and the rocker mounted LED's that come with the AMP Power steps;

I've done the same thing with mine.
If you miss the step at night, you must be blind.
