I recently removed my chrome clads (teeth unsnap) and I was curious to if anyone has attempted painting the clads? I also have pictures for the curious dodge owners as to what it looks like under the clads.

I have only plastidipped... How hard was it to get the cover off? Would it be easy to go back on without chipping paint? Would also like to see what others have done with paint.

Not sure if this is relevant as it looks like you're planning to paint the wheel under the chrome clad covers?

I tried to paint the chrome clad covers. I spent HOURS scuffing the chrome to a haze and followed the directions for cleaning and degreasing before applying dupli-color primer and wheel paint. It adhered pretty well in the summer months with only occasional rock chips from driving on gravel roads (I really wouldn't expect any paint to survive this). However, when winter arrived and I pressure washed the wheel the paint peeled pretty bad.

Conclusion: I wouldn't attempt it again. For the time I invested I'd rather just buy some aftermarket wheels.

I thought there was glue under there. I was wondering about taking off the clads on the 20in rims.

Your cover's just pop off by clips? The factory 20's on my 07 were glued on and the only way to get them off was to destroy them.

Pretty sure all the clads were glued on those look like aftermarket covers. Have you had the truck since new?
