I agree. I have no idea why they didn't illuminate it with the rest of the switch. I don't think anyone has found another master switch from a Chrysler vehicle that can be switched but it would definitely be nice.

The one I used to add the power folding mirrors on my 2014 CC (68110867AB) has two plugs on the back, so that one would not work for me. I do recall that there were two possible ones for 2014, one with a single plug and one with 2. Which one you needed varied by manufacture date. Mine was late '14 (October).

From what I have found by installing few power fold mirrors in different trucks the 17 and up trucks take the switch with one connector. Not positive about the 16 but I know for sure the 13 to 15 trucks take the switch with two connectors.

Can both mirrors be operated by a single toggle switch rather than independently?

If you are referring to the factory setup they already both operate together off of one button in the drives side master switch.

I want to wire them to my own button.
Push once they fold, push again and they unfold.

That's how the factory setup works. You'd still need the proper door modules and then you'd need to figure out which wire in the driver door switch connector is for the mirrors, remove it from the connector and wire it to your own momentary switch. The issue being that the switch is not directly connected to the mirrors. It's connected to the bcm, which, when it senses the switch being pushed, sends a signal over the can-bus to each of the door modules for them to fold/unfold the mirrors. Honestly, with all that work, it's easier to just get the factory switch.

1AAuto sells a kit with the mirrors, a set of switches and some assorted wiring to give you the power fold option without the upgraded modules or door switch, but I'm not certain exactly how it works. Someone here might be able to elaborate.

Yes you can install your own momentary switch and wire it directly to the mirrors. This is the way myself and others have done it in the past before we had the ability to add the LER power fold mirror code with the alfa topl. I actually did a write up on it in the 4th Gen DIY section. There is quite a bit of wiring involved to do it and you need to run the wiring through both door harnesses into the mirrors. The only reason I did my mirrors that way was because at the time there was no way for us to enable the LER power fold code in our trucks. The way they work is to push the button on direction and they will open until you release it. Push the button the other way and they will close until you let go. You cannot do the one touch open and fold because there is no way to run them through the door module when you wire them to a separate switch. In any case you can look at my write up and it will show you how I did mine back in the day. To be honest I'm not sure why you don't just install the power fold door modules and master switch and enable to code with the alfa tool unless your just trying to save a little money.

Then a momentary switch like the one Ricks Ram listed is the cheapest way to go. I mounted two because I liked being able to operate them independently but you can use just one.

Hey guys! I am looking for some help with this project.

I have a bare bones tradesman meaning no power in the doors aside from the speaker, temp sensor, and air bad sensor.b79ed9bceb4d6b9ff288059abc372788.jpg832b145df445345c2f62731f34e57008.jpg

I want to add the puddle/running lights.
Are the door modules a necessity or can I tap into 12v somewhere and bring it into the door.

The door modules are not going to help because it appears you have none of the wiring necessary. There was a guy a few years ago before we were able to add the codes to make them work who actually wired the mirror blinkers to his headlight blinkers and his puddle lights to his interior lights. I'm pretty sure it all worked OK for him but it's definitely a pretty big undertaking.

Thanks Rick, I figured as much.

I really want the running lights on the mirrors so that folks can see them sticking out at night. I think I’m going to get one of the cheaper sets off of eBay and tap the 12v from my cab lights wire

I don’t care so much about the signals. Pulling from the the interior lights is a good idea for the puddles though!

That should work fine. The only part that's a pain is routing the wires through the door harness but since your truck doesn't have a lot of factory wiring you should have more room than some of the other trucks.

Jumping on board with 1aauto kit, chrome tow, lights and power fold upgrade. I am fine with adding their switch to door panel and avoiding those parts. Thanks to Ricks Ram for this write up and those who added to the thread. Looking forward to this next upgrade!
