Install Complete, I had previously had the Mr'Gasket Chrome Cover, Painted Stock Cover, and finally the Mopar Chrome Cover and well as you can see a waste of Money.
So off with the cover.
Clean off old gasket and prep mating surface.
I can't say enough about this Cover, well made, excellent instruction for prep, use and caring of the unit and a dipstick. Notice the built in O-ring Gasket (lightly Oiled with Diff Lube before fitting and antisieze and lube o Rings again on the other 3 on-off fittings) Top An for sensor plug, center factory Level Plug and lower drain plug.
The hardware is top notch and I followed the Torque specs of 16 Ft lbs. I pondered weather or not to use some low strength Purple thread locker since the kit has flat washers and no RTV is used but put faith in the set-up and just put them on as required.
Now the Company Claims it now will take 5 Qts but I was leary of that.
The Factory unit takes 2.45 (Liters in my case but is 946 Ml so Qts is what it is).
I had five 80W90 GL 5 Gear Lubes on Hand (The Auburm don't Run Full synthetic like the stock diff so right there the price per quart is half) and 2 x friction Modifier (1 required per 3 Qts).
I removed the center plug to see just when the fluid would start pouring out and estimated that would be approx the middle of the dipstick (lower and upper Marks is what it has).
I poured in 2 Bottles followed by a Wynns Modifier (Wynns makes the Ford Stuff anyhow so I went with it saving me a Trip to the Ford Dealer). Another 1/2 quart and the Oil started to come out the center Plug Hole. I re-inserted the Plug and then checked the dip stick and was then in the range. I slowly added another 400 Ml of fluid which brought the level to the top Full mark on the dip stick. TOTAL Diff FLUID 2.9 QTS Plus 4 OZ Friction Modifier. So if you have a Non-LSD you will need approx 3.3 Qts Vice 2.95 plus modifier!
In Closing it holds a bit extra fluid than the stock one, looks cool, has a drain plug, and will likely keep the diff fluid a bit cooler.
Before I takled this I made a trip to the gear center and had the pinion seal replaced cause I have some dampness coming out the front after winter and found that there was a small mark on the driveshaft coupler that is splined onto the gear pinion. The Tech says the seal should fit over a bit tighter than it was so he installed it as is and should it leak in the future I will replace the part (so far so good though).
Since these guys did my Gears and do a proper check adjust, preload on the crush sleeve with the pinion nut install I figured that would be better than me doing it in the driveway and counting threads since the Investment here is well over the 3K Mark.
I also Installed my new UFC floor Matts, Cool Huh!
