When I was younger, my cousin had a 78 lil red express and it was the coolest truck ever. At least until he wrapped it around a tree while driving drunk one night.
Ever since then, its been one of those cars I always wanted, along with a 77 Trans am, the A team van, and the original batmobile. Well - I bought a 2008 ram a few years ago and I love this truck. I always thought about doing a stack pipe mod, but it never had the right look. All the stacks I've seen done were either huge pipes for diesels and/or they came thru the bed and half the pipes were not visible. The original lil red express was a stepside and dodge doesnt make those anymore.
So I decided I was going to do it and do it right. I chopped the front of the bed 7" and created a new "L" shaped edge in each front corner. I didnt chop it all the way, I stopped at teh body line so it would still look like a factory bed. I then ran new exhaust pipe from the header cat along the outside of the frame, but tucked under the cab. I ran my stack pipes and installed the chrome heat shields and a few mounting tabs.
I am finishing up the body work and the bed interior, but had to share a few pictures.
