also depends how much you have to clean. I'm still cleaning mine 2 days later. I'm just replacing everything I can now. Don't wait too long or this will happen. I didn't have any trouble until last week and I wish I knew to check it sooner.

Good Gawd... that's just fugly... I thought mine was bad...

Im not sure about that 180 stat Badger. If you're not running a tuner, I think the factory 195 is better.

I did Valve Cover gaskets when I did mine, easy time to do it. Do a tuneup (Cap rotor plugs wires etc) Its all easy to get yourself into when you got er tore up. Get the little bypass hose under that bracketry there and do it too.

I haven't had any issues with my 180 tstat. And I agree with the cap, rotor, and bypass hose on the front of the intake. It's a lot of work to replace just that hose if it ever fails

As for the 180*F thermostat if your in cold country don't do it... I've been fighter to get heat in the truck as is now. The factory 195*F is much better and also should do better for MPG too.

Valve cover are a good suggestion... While its all apart just get the upper end sealed up.

If you get the gasket kit from RockAuto.com lie I did you end up with that little hose as part of the kit and a 180*F thermostat... Which now I regret installing the thermostart... Brrr... Cold!

Yeah, I made the 195 suggestion as I think Badger's weather and mine in Chicago are pretty close, and a 180 is probably just too cold for winter.

You cold also check out that write-up on the spark plug wire routing diagram for kicks when you get that point.

Awesome post! I wish I would have found this BEFORE I started this project. I did get the gaskets done now im in the process of putting it all back together when I realized I have vacuum lines EVERYWHERE, and when i try to move them they start breaking...now I have no idea where they go. Can someone post a detailed picture or something?

I think you're talking about the by-pass hose that runs from the front of the intake to the top of the water pump. About a 4" hose with a 90 degree bend in it?

This looks pretty dang intense. My ram is pinging and I have oil in my intake. guess I'm next to do it.

Hell while this hole thing is apart might as well do headers, tune up, Cam, rockers, and whatever else....

Any reason not to use gasket sealer? Only asking cuz my dad thinks I should put some on just in case. What's the harm if I do?
