I have a large leak in my front left steel brake like coming out of the Abs to the front right tire. I dont know what line to buy what fittings or what size in general. 98 5.2L Laramie

i am pretty sure you would need 3/16" brake line and 3/8"-24 fittings to replace a steel brake line on one of these things.

i think it would depend on what line is leaking. there are a couple fittings that sometimes have to be re-used but i am pretty sure the one he is replacing shouldn't be anything special. usually the special fittings are on the master cylinder and the input on the proportioning valve.

The output on the proportioning valve was a larger size than the hard to soft line to the actual caliper

Well if he does have to re-use fittings all it takes is a 3/16" drill bit and a drill. I have done it many times on the fittingside that are not standard

Are the fittings reusable? Can I get away with just getting a new line? Is there a method to bending the new line or can I get a tool to bend the new line and just have at it

Also, do I put nylon tape or something on the threads of the fittings?

i would personally recommend replacing any fittings that you can and only re-use what you must.

no you don't need any nylon tape. the fitting clamps the line to the other side

Can I bleed just that one line or would that bleed the master cylinder as well?

you shouldn't need to bleed the master cylinder unless you run it dry so make sure to top it up or check it before starting. if you hook up the line to the abs thing first the line might bleed itself by the time you go to hook up the other end. you can sometimes get away with bleeding it like that but if it don't work you would then just have to bleed it at the caliper

Any tips for bending brake lines? Never done it before. Not sure what I should or shouldn't do. Any advice would be great.

a cheap tubing bender works good for tight turns if you need to bend any but for the most part you should be able to bend light bends by hand.

I had a leak under the cab and many other questionable lines. I took the easy way out and went pre bent from sstubes. $200 did the whole truck, but they break it up into 3 or 4 sections depending on what you want to work on.

Edit, didnt see second page you got er done. Lol
