Hi everyone.

I have a 1994 Ram 1500 V8. I haven't done any maintenance to it in about 3 years, however, during this time frame it has been the "secondary truck" and I've driven it maybe 10,000 miles. I picked up a Haynes manual from Amazon and I've started going down the list for maintenance. Good ol' Dodger has been good to us and has never had any mechanical problems (knock on wood), so I'm going to treat him right.

I've changed the plugs several times in the truck's life, but this time I've encountered a problem: the spark plug boot shields seem to be stuck. I was able to pull one loose with little difficulty, but the others aren't being so cooperative. The metal of the heat shields is quite shiny and does not APPEAR to be rusted, but its possible there could be some corrosion that I'm not seeing.

Has anyone encountered this problem before? Any tips on removing the boot shields?

Are you talking about the metal heat shields? You pull those to change spark plugs?

Yes, they are silver cylinders which go over the spark plugs. I believe they are meant to protect the wires from the heat of the engine.
