Hey great idea thanks for sharing. If anyone is ever worried about them coming out just drill a small hole below the first strap and put a hitch pin in it :) and to anyone worried about it messing up or hurting your truck it's 8 tiny holes no one will ever see. And it's sad to see people be so rude about being patriotic. Rock on! :favorites13:

Even if it was Redneck, which I don't think it is, rednecks know how to party and have a good time. Lol.

I think it looks great.

Topic should be called, " how to turn your truck into a redneck hillbilly mobile" that is so tacky its unreal

If you don't like what somebody did that is fine. Not all mods are for everyone, but that doesn't mean you have to leave a rude comment.

If people need to ask how to do this they must have a lower IQ than you which Is hard to believe, the hundreds of people doing it is a lil easier to believe however as there is an awful lot of fully ****** rednecks in your neck of the woods

Why come in someone's thread just to talk ****? If it's not your thing, move on. Not a hard concept to follow. Want to be involved in drama, there's plenty on Facebook I hear.

I did this to my truck, minus the Texas flag cuz I live in CA. I only did it for the 4th of July and I plan to do it for Veterans Day ( I am a vet) and on 9/11 (never forget). Some people made comments on this being tacky. However, on a few days of the year I see it as patriotic and supporting the troops.

Being ex-military but not the American version can anyone tell me "what exactly is a patriot'? I can't recall ever seeing a truck in my country sporting flags but the old saying applies here "each to their own"

So I get people all the time asking me about my flag poles and how I mounted them. Ive seen many people mount them different ways and spending tons of money, while none of them I really cared for so I came up with my idea.
Total cost for me was about $5, more if you dont have any screws..

I used a 10ft piece of 3/4" metal conduit that I cut into two 5ft sections. Then I bought 4 1" metal straps(sold right next to the conduit in stores). Where you can see in the picture I just put one strap on bottom and one on top and used the self tapping screws to secure them. On the poles I just drilled holes and have my flags zip tied on, you can bolt them or however you want.

Ive driven at highways speeds and never had a problem with the poles moving or bending or coming out and Ive had these for over a year now and Ive done this for friends trucks too. Only thing is the flags can get torn up after a while or from driving too fast. I always have the metal straps attached to my bed so the poles can be easily removed when I dont want them. Ive had to replace two straps from **** in my bed hitting them and bending them but other than that no other problems.

Now my poles are painted lime green too:naughty:

Love the concept, done it myself before. Only thing I ask is you switch the flags from side to side. American flag should be flown infront of or to the presenters right.

Being a patriot, by definition, isn't someone who merely puts flags on their truck. Sorry to confuse your little brain. Maybe the country you served did not instill a sense of pride in you? A patriot, in my opinion, is someone who supports the troops regardless of politians. It is impossible for an American patriot to back every political move, but, they support the troops and back the American way of life. If you don't know what the American way of life is, then, visit Sierra Leone......Iraq right now is wonderful..... Or you can hang out in Mexico (a county where it's citizens are literally dieing in an attempt to cross the border for a better life). So stay humble before you post your nonsense.

So let me get this straight, by asking what is patriotism you attack me personally, very nice. Now on to my second point, the country I served in did a multitude of things for me. I was active as a child but the military took it to another level obviously. Due to my age I was taught respect at home but again the military took it to another level. Playing football in my pre-army days instilled teamwork but you guessed it the military does the same but in overdrive. One of the more important lessons I learned in the army was something call Esprit de corps or learning about the regiments many glorious battle honours dating back to WW1.

My opinion differs in what a patriot is in this way, anyone who does not directly fight for a country can't be a patriot, period. I am almost sure if you asked anyone who served in an army regiment if a civilian supported the troops you might get the following answer, I/we don't give a rats ass. By the way the same answer would apply to anyone protesting the armies actions.

Luckily I grew up 1/2 of a mile from the US border so I have a small amount of knowledge in regards to the American way of life. Another nice thing about growing up were I did was learning world history and this involved countries such as Canada, Usa, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia. The Netherlands, Belguim, Ussr/Russia, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, China etc. Oh in grade school we had to learn all of the countries that made up Africa which stood at roughly 35 or so ie Sierra Leone.

Your last point is way to ironic in regards to staying humble or are you completely joking. I can go to just about any country on this globe with my countries flag on my back (not something we do generally as my country is very humble) and I am almost sure I will be greeted in a friendly manner. There are a few countries were I would not be safe but then again unless you are of a certain religious group no one is safe.

My last point on this particular post is this, in WW1 our forefathers became involved approximately 3 years before the USA, WW2 2 1/4 earlier. I am not sure if many Americans would know this or even care to know this.

World history makes for great reading and some would learn that there are many other countries that contribute to freedom.

My original post was to get peoples perspective on what a true patriot was especially those that were hard on the op.:favorites13::favorites13:

Don't get heated fellas. We all do what we do for our own reasons. For instance... the USAF got me out of the go-nowhere town I grew up in and helps me provide for my wife and daughter(soon to be 2). We all have our own opinions and I'd rather people keep them to themselves if they're not constructive or positive. I love trolling these forums but crap like this gets old real quick. We're all adults... we ought to at least act like it unless it involves jokes and jolly times.

I agree so this is why I used no insults but just facts. I find name calling quite childish and it really serves no purpose other than making the poster feel better about themselves.:favorites13:

NO issues with what you said, but being a patriot (in both your definition and in others), please capitalize ALL letters when you type USA.

It is an abbreviation, not a word. Same goes for USSR, but I am not a patriot for their cause.

That's actually against "legal" flag display protocol and is considered desecration. If you want to be truly patriotic, you should look up the proper way to display a flag.
