Picking up my "new" ram 1500 (1997) with the 360 Magnum today. My only concern was when driving the truck the OP gauge drops from 40 down to zero then goes back and forth. If there was a major issue the truck would tick, knock, or wouldn't run. This truck runs like a top. Transmission shifts like butter. 175k on the truck. They say original trans but I doubt it by the stories I've read on the 2nd gen ram trannys.

Do I start with the simple $20 oil pressure switch and sending unit? That seems like the most sensible problem to me. The truck is 2 quarts low on oil, but I plan on doing an oil change tomorrow right away with a synthetic 10-30w or 10-40w.

Truck has pretty minimal rust for the year. Worst rust is a small hole on driver floor, that will get taken care of quick, but will have to investigate for water leaks.

The previous owner put brand new Laramie seats in, so they are power, and the truck doesn't have power options. Is there a rig to the fuse box I can do to get these to function?

Not a bad deal in my opinion for $1700

What is the biggest size tires that will fit on a stock 1500? 31's?

Thanks guys

I think that's it for questions.
