That a tuner, or just an OBD port reader for codes?

That is a DRBIII, this is what the dealership uses if your vehicle is a PCI-bus type vehicle, like Rams through 2005.

how did you get that. i want one.. not much good for anything after 2005 though..would be sweet if you could get the WITECH software on a laptop...then you could do anything.

also what did you pay for it... i have seen them for sale for like $3000 but who would really pay that unless you own a repair shop and also its kind of outdated now 2

I paid just under $2000, new they are still going for $5000+. It is only outdated because of the vehicles, BUT you need it or a program designed to emulate it, as the newer ones (starscan, star mobile) only talk to CANbus vehicles. The local dealer still has DRBIII's so that they can work on the older vehicles. This thing has already returned 2-3 trips to the dealer for me. Plus eventually I am going to drop a 4.7 in my wife's Liberty. Having a DRBIII (both our vehicles are PCI bus) will ensure everything works right. When I go to convert my godawful 2003 computer setup to a 2005, this will ensure that everything works right.
