Hey feelas I'm going to be installing a light bar on my roof using nutcerts. Having a hard time finding the tool to do it. I was told there is a way to do it with a nut bolt and washer. Has anyone successfully installed these without the actual tool?

You can do them with a bolt (or screw) 3 washers and a nut.

nutsert>>washer>>nylon washer>>washer>>nut>>bolt thru them all. Light coat of oil on the nylon washers. They do make a manual kit for this as well, comes like the above except comes with a roller washer. Roller washer/nylon washer, either work, just there to spin instead of the nutsert spinning.

Personally, I would just buy a tool, very inexpensive for the smaller ones (up to 1/4-20)

Similar to how you set the nutsert for the DeeZee tailgate assist.

Putting a nylon washer in-between the flat washers may make it easier to turn.

I used the bolt and washer method. Lesson learned 1 make sure you put enough torque on it to make sure it is set properly. 2 don't use an impact driver. FML. These things are a pia to remove. Spent like 2 hrs getting the one I screwed up out.
