So my wife has an 09 VW Passat Komfort and the check engine light came on, she's saying its pulling back and jolting when she initially accelerates, let's say, off a red light. Not so much highway speeds (as if it were going to bog down). I'm thinking it could be the transmission but I've never dealt with anything that internal before. Any thoughts?

Maybe the egr valve if it has one. They would make the car jerk and surge when cruising.

yeah, check the throttle body. It may be dirty and just needs a good cleaning.

Good one @thetank haha. But so far I've replaced the spark plugs, air filter and put in injector cleaner. I got a few error codes before the plug change that read early detonation and what not. The new plugs cleared that up. But I still have a code saying "system too lean (bank 1) and I take manifold issues. I'm not too sure how to remove the TB tho off her car But I can clearly see it
