Have spent a good 3 hours researching a click torque wrenches for when I put my lift on (need 25-130 ft lbs for different bolts for the lift) and I still don't know which one to go with. About to guy my eyes out:superhack:

Brands I am considering:

Kobalt
Husky
Craftsmans(herd some bad things about these guys)
Tekton(good reviews on homedepot and amazon...)
Duralast (from autozone, looks like HF junk)
Recommendations from you guys

Don't want to pay for snap on because this wrench will only see occasional useage

Urm....I haz a HF wrench.
:uhoh2:

:hidesbehindsofa:

Me too and I will be returning it tomorrow :roflsquared:

Mine wouldn't even turn up to 130 ft lbs let alone 150. I am not even going to try it if it wont even slide through the whole torque range. But im sure it would work great as a sawzaw for bolts :naughty::superhack:

I got one too and it was tough to get max out at first, but you just gotta keep working it to get it to free up. Been using mine for 5 years now.

Proto or bust. You'd probably need two different ones for that range though. I love mine.

I have a needle one from advanced auto parts its a powerbuilt brand. IT hasnt let me down and have double checked with a friends to make sure it is torqued right. I think it was $25 and Idk about warranty, but I know the guys at the store and they'll exchange or do anything I request of them.

I've never owned a duralast torque wrench but i know it is lifetime warranty, and autzone is at most probly 30 miles away from you. alot better than waiting a week to get a new one.:)

I'm not completly sure abiut being a used or pre owned torque wrench..

Proto is way out of my budget.

I like the beam and needle style but it can be hard to read when your under the truck trying to torque the shock mount bold it the track bar bolt

My biggest concern(why I'm not use the HF torque wrench) is that I don't want to be draticslly under-torque or over torque to the point I'm breaking bolts or bolts are come undone

Def get what u pay for on calibrated insruments...a good 0-150 ftlbs range will be used on just about everything with a torque spec. U could always rent one from the autopart store, typically for free.

I have the Duralast one and yes it does look exactly like the HF one except its just about as cheap and comes with a lifetime warranty. I recently had to exchange mine due to the torque handle getting stuck and they gave me a new one no questions asked. The wrench isn't as well made as some of the other brands but it works great and has always been tightened nuts and bolts down to the torque I needed.

I have had a Kobalt ratchet set for almost ten years. I have given it some serious abuse and it still works like new.

What's the price difference between the Kobalt and the Tekton?

What's the price difference between the Kobalt and the Tekton?

Kobalt 1/2 is $75 for 50-250 ft lbs
Kobalt 3/8 is $55 for 20-100 ft lbs

Tekton 1/2 is $40 for 10-150 ft lbs
Tekton 3/8 is $40 for 10-80 ft lbs

Only problem with kobalt is that I would need to buy both 1/2 and 3/8 for the torque range I need

I've herd the new craftsmans are kinda junky especially compared to the older ones.. how old are you guys Craftsmans?

Kobalt has lifetime warranty is looked good in my hand :naughty:

but Tekon has great reviews and is only about $40 and I would ony need the 1/2" one instead of needing the 3/8 and 1/2 kobalt due to the torque range i need
