So, had a customer get with me, wanted to get a custom set of lights that looked great, and performed too. He really liked the style of the Spyder lights, but.....performance, not so much (from reviews he read on various forums). So, next best thing? Lets swap that projector out!
I've never attempted this before........so when he asked, at first I thought......eh.......but hey, lets have some fun! Got these boogers in, took a look, can't see jack without opening them. So, in the oven they went.
Got 'em open, took a look at what I'm working with here.
Pulled that projector out
Took the lens off, took a look at these things......
Eh.
So, I started looking at how to mount the Morimoto Mini H1 projectors in here. First thought was to fab up a bracket of some sort, to mate to the internal mounts there. Then..........the light bulb went off in my head. These halogen ******** are going in the trash.........so why not use them as the mounting plate? Lets cut.
Ate that disc up.......Got almost both of them done with 1 disc. LOL
and whats left of the craptastic projector
Take the MH1 and grind down the top "nuts" on these. This is only so they sit flush on the plate, that little bit pushed them a hair to far forward for the bezel to sit back on right. So, trim it up a bit.
Then, use the lower mounting points to mount. The top ones - remove the screw on the lens, replace with a longer one and use that to mount right to the bracket.
notch the top a bit, to allow the top mount from the Spyder light to go through
Pop it back in the light
And I'll seal 'em back up tomorrow.
