Well........I finally ordered parts to make a few tail connectors.

Now.......for all of those who just read that......no, they won't be available tomorrow. LOL It will be a bit before I get the parts in, made and tested. Then........I'll have a couple of hand made ones, but will then move to get a few hundred made in bulk ;)

Sounds like a Plan! :favorites13:

I will eventually get a set of medium (level 2) tinted Sport LED's on the back,
Then do the same before/after daytime and night output comparison pics like I did for the heads.

I have been warned several times about my GTS tinted covers front and rear,
so dark the light was barely visible and definitely not legal, but thankfully never ticketed for them.

GroundForce005.jpg

from an esthetic point of view, they were hideous sticking out a 1/2" all around

back to stock as it sits right now

Do the OEM LED tails have LED's for reverse bulbs too?
and if not, is there an LED replacement bulb?

Now that I've got used to having real back up lights again I'm spoiled,
but hate the look of tinted tails with clear reverse patch cut-out. :puke:

Any idea what the price will be on the LED TYC tails?

I may have found some OEM's locally, new 14' take offs $300 OBO

The guy must have bought a set of Recon's or something
probably the fugly bling'd out ones

Should I snap these up or hold out until Christmas?

May be worth a try offering him $250 to see if he takes it I guess...

Then I just need a resistor/adapter

See if he can send you a pic of the back of the tails. I also have a new set of 2014 OEM LED Sport tails here, but the connector plug on the back is different than the 2013 model LED tails.

Jeremy, have you had a chance to compare your tails to the pics I sent you of mine? Still curious if 1 adapter will work or if you have to produce 2 different adapters for the different year tails.

Well I had to drive to the other side of the city to have a look,
I was a little disappointed to find several scuff marks on both lights.
No major scratches, the owner was not the truck owner, just a kid that worked at a Dodge dealership.

But no biggie since I planned on tint, wet sand, clear and polish anyway.
However the seller didn't need to know that so I acted like I was totally pissed and low balled him for another $50 off. Waived 4 new $50 bills and he took it without question.

$200 Done Deal!

LED_zps400c7583.jpg

and I already dropped them off at my painters garage,
since he lives close by just a few blocks away.

Thanks Brad!

Sorry, forgot to take a pic of the back/connector (Doh!)

So once I sell my stock lamps for $100
I'll only be out a $100 on the upgrade.

Pretty happy about that,
these don't show up very often because trucks that didn't come with them
cant run them without hard wiring them in with resistors.

Since the foglights don't have projectors, has anyone tried blacking them out with tint and running HIDs? That would look pretty cool to me on a extreme murdered vehicle, almost like you don't have fogs installed until you turn them on.

Not to sure at what point HIDs are not bright enough to pierce the tint enough to still make them functional, yet black at the same time.

Ideas?

Tint on heads or fogs would kill the output,

posted this comparison on the first post

Here's my old stock quad/ stock fogs on a wall about 15' away

Same shot with my old GTS smoked overs on the heads

You can get old style horizontal TYC fogs custom retro fitted with a morimoto projector
and a painted reflector bowl...but they would run about $600

That's odd, I went to RockAuto to see if I could round up pigtails/connectors
(no luck so I'll try the dealers or the local pick your part)

But while I was into the RA catalogue I did notice they had TYC LED tails
but the part number listed the same both 13' and 14' model years.

Would it be a safe guess that the LED tails would require the same load resistor as the head signals? 6 ohm?

Post a pic of the back of your new tails when you get a chance. On my 2014 tails, the connector pin is molded into the lamp, so you cannot hardwire them without buying a pigtail (not available through Dodge according to our parts guy).

On the 2013 tails, it was easy to just access the wires inside, and hardwire it yourself without needing a pigtail. The 2013 lights also have a 6 pin connector where mine are only a 4 pin.

I did look at them briefly, and yes its a recessed molded port on the lamp.

I just ran to the Dodge dealer next door to my office
The pigtail is part# 5013984AA he even had some in stock to show me

But they wanted $60 ea,

51J5dES5iIL._SY300_.jpg

RockAuto has them (Dorman) for $30 So I might just order them from them instead
