Hey guys, I purchased a Retro Shop kit this week. It was the one linked in the sticky on this board for my 2014 with factory projectors. When I was doing the install I noticed the ceramic insulation was cracked on one of the HID, probably during shipping since they didn't come in the plastic tube cases I'm used to seeing. I had some people tell me that it didn't matter and the light did seem to work when I tested it.
It's been a couple of days and it seemed fine, however when I left a bar tonight it seemed that one of them didn't light. I got close to the bumper of another car at a stop light and saw that the one with the cracked ceramic insulation wasn't on. I toggled the lights off and back on and it came back.
Is it the cracked insulation causing the problem? Also it kind of sucks that with the canbus adapter it won't tell me if the light is out. The HIDs are so strong that it's hard to tell if both are on in the city unless you tailgate someone and check your reflection. So it's making me paranoid now.
