So the newest ballasts do not fit inside the housings. Decided to cut a 7/8 in. hole and this made it easy. I mounted the CAN bus adapter and ballast on the frame. Everything checked out and worked first try. I may need to level the lights because I'm a little OCD when it comes to a perfect flat line, but right now it's barely off and they look great.

Thanks Retroshop for a great product!

Just ordered my set from Retroshop. Did you happen to take any pics of your install locations? Hope to get mine shortly and do the install in a week or so.

Thanks,

To install HIDs in these, you'll have to drill a 7/8" hole in the dust cap. A hole saw works best for this.

Dust Cap:

Here's one drilled:

This is the second time around I've installed (installing) a HID kits for the Ram trucks. My first time was last year with my old 2014 Ecodiesel. This time it's on my 2015 2500. I didn't have a holesaw last year so this year I noticed that if you drill a 7/8" hole one of the connectors won't fit, so if you add a little notch to the hole as seen in my picture, you can squeeze it through without unpining the plug. f32c47cf645c99003497401c05cbafc4.jpg

It's still best if you take off the plastic piece that holds the wire into place so you can make that notch as small as possible.

And the grommets still fit perfectly!

Can I get some clarification please. All the install vids and guides show different electronics to what I got must be new stuff but I connected it how I suppose it goes. The only thing is nothing has mounting tabs except the ballasts so can I just zip tie those things to something? And does the ballast bolt holes have to be bolted to bare metal to ground? I got the 55w if it matters. Thanks

Got them installed but for some reason the right headlight is more focused than the left. The right has a beam but the left just is vague broad light. I checked no smudges or anything on the bulb or housing. What could be causing this? And how do I adjust the headlight heights?

Yes to the zip ties, no to the bolt holes having to go to metal. Nothing in that picture should get that hot. You'd only have to worry if you had the resistors which clearly state not to mount to plastic.

Hope this helps.

Would the HID's be brighter than the Rigid 6" Combo (driving/flood)? I'm not super mechanical and was thinking of putting the Rigids where my tow hooks would have gone on my 2015 ram 150

A rigid 6" combo.......would be a glare monster, and would definitely get yuo pulled over.

Even if I had them (6" combo) wired into the brights for faster switching?

Would the d2 driving (4") be noticably better than stock high beams?

On highs, do what you'd want - as ...... they'd only be used in situations where there is no other drivers around you - so.....go for it ;)

As for brightness, LED pods would definitely be brighter than stock highs.

Thanks!! So would you do 4" driving or 6" combo (driving on side and spot in middle)?

To answer your question the D2 driving lights would be way brighter than your stocks, however if you going to drop the money I'd recommend either going
LED (Way brighter than stock)
or
HID (noticeably brighter then LED and extremely brighter then stock)
before getting any aftermarket lights themselves. I've got Retroshops HID's Hi/Lows and they are absolutely amazing. Can be a pain to wire up but well worth the effort. I also have a set of the D2 Driving Lights, and a set of the D2 Hyperspots. You can check out my build page for more info on that but when I'm driving at night my HID's blow the Rigid lights out of the water. When I'm using my Rigid lights in conjunction with me HIDs you wouldnt really notice them on unless you had them angled to hit where your truck lights dont. I've got my D2 driving lights off to the left and right a bit to illuminate the tree line, and the Hyperspots pointed straight down the road, and honestly, they dont really do anything as my HIDs are so bright, I just having got around to readjusting them to make them more useful yet.

Anyway, what I'm getting at is you should buy some HID's and then if you still want more light get something bigger like the Vision X Light Cannons, or some HID Lightforces.

I think I'm gonna stick with the 2 rigid lights where my tow hooks would be. They say they come with everything (wire, switch etc) except that I may need longer wire to run from the front of the truck.

My question: If I tap into the high beam switch, what else would I need?

I think I want to go that route instead of having a separate switch on the dash.

It's on a 2015 Ram 1500 Big Horn.

Thanks!!

I had your kit installed in a set of retro quads on a 2013 1500, now I have a 2015 3500 with OEM projectors. I pulled all of it out of the old truck (with the exception of the resistors) and went back to stock before trading it in, what do I need to add the HID to the new lights?

thoss29 - you'll need a new harness (15s are different), and the bulbs are different too......

Might be easier to start over, keep your ballasts as spares, etc.

Bulb Codes for 2014 ram 1500 with projectors

I am trying to figure out without having to run to my truck and look at the manual. What are the replacement codes for the head lights, hi beams, and fog lights?

Just wanted to share where I mounted the resistors with some clamps. I was pretty proud of my creativity.

On the driver's side I took a bolt out along the front of the fender and slid a clamp in there that held the two resistors together.

There's plenty more room on the passenger side so I was able to mount them the same way with the clamp along the bottom. I wanted to do it the same way as the driver side, but the air box was in the way.

Was happy I didn't have to drill any holes.

That looks like a good idea...! I was on the fence about getting the kit because I really didn't feel like drilling.

Quick question if I have a 2010 with quads and hids if I want 13+ projectors can I just pop in my hids by drilling a hole and would my turn signal and high beam still function properly?
