Sometimes, its a Beetle!
We get contacted from time to time from various customers to do something outside the "norm" here. Yeah, we love working on Rams - but a few Chevys...Fords....and the occasional VW hit the bench too (and a jeep soon!). This customer found us from our projector / HID supplier, The Retrofit Source - where we are a preferred retrofitter. Saw that we are local, figured he'd hit me up and see where it went!
So, we started with a set of OEM lights from his 2012 VW Beetle. The VW lights are known for their..........well, pain in the assedness for opening. You think a Ram light is tough? Shiiiiiiit. Feeling confident, I tossed these bugs in the oven, baked away, pulled them out and.......nothing. Errrr.........dafuq? Hello, lens, move away from the housing please. Nope. Baked again. No move. Baked again. *****, its on! Grabbed the dremel and muttered "off with your lens fukka!" as I cut it off! Then thought.......well, that was fun!
Off to paint they went, got a few touches of gloss black. Mario (customer) wanted to keep some chrome - and I think the end result was a great choice. Got them back last Saturday, put the projectors in, and proceeded to seal up the lights! (that was fun. lol)
Anyway, here's some pics of them - pretty spiffy little boogers!
