Depends on the rear axle the 2500's have the 3.42 axle some 3500s have 3.73 or 4.10 and that could yield some difference in mpg but it really shouldn't be huge differences. The main difference between the 3500 and 2500 is the rear suspension the 3500 has leafs and the 2500 has coils witch have a way better ride quality but far less payload. It just depends on what you want to do with the truck as to witch one to get.

To clarify that, all SRW diesel 2500/3500's come with 3.42 gears. 3.73's or 4.10's are only availbe in DRW diesel trucks.

pretty sure it's mostly the same but it'll depend on the options. i'd imagine a dually is gonna use extra and 4x4 loses a little

Not saying your wrong but on Rams build site the 3500 standered is 3.73 and the 4.10 are for duallys and 3.42 is a option but not standered.

We all know how unreliable Rams site is and how often they change standered features.

True but I'd imagine he's comparing an apples to apples truck in 2500 to 3500

should be about the same then. there's probably a little extra weight that will cost a little but i think it's really just the suspension so probably not enough to really notice

That's because standard them come with a Hemi, not a Cummins. With the Hemi you can get 3.73's. Once you select the Cummins the only option is 3.42 unless you select DRW. Then 3.73's and 4.10's become available again.

Really it's stupid... the fact that you can't get 3.73's or 4.10's in a SRW Cummins anymore is completely ridiculous IMO.

My 2500 Cummins averages about 17mpg with mixed driving, which is way better than my 1500 that only got 12 lol
