After a 2700 mile drive. Drove straight from MA to FL, stayed in FL for a funeral then drove straight back. Cleaned out my catch can before the drive and this was when I got back...
Damn ! Glad all that oil didn't puke down your intake.

I put the billet catch can on last week after seeing a lot of recommendations around the forum. Literally took about 10 minutes to install and feels like a quality product but I only have about 200 miles on the truck since I put it on so I can't comment on how good it works yet. However, quality and ease of installation was easy.

Which Catch can do you recommend? Keep in Mind the bank doesn't allow too much fundage at a time for mods!!!!:bs:
I chose www.eliteengineeringusa.com
Imo the head design is better .

Billet Tech seems to be the most popular one here .
Both are a bit pricy though.

If you choose the Elite one the latest one listed is 09 or 10 anyway that's the one for all 4th gens .

Billet Tech has one with a clear bowl ( so I've been told ) this would be nice !

There are other options I'm not familiar with , so shop.around to fit your budget .

Whats a catch can ???? runs :naughty:
If you're being serious , an oil catch can catches the oil mist / normal condensation in oil being vented from the crank case to the AIR intake via the PCV .
Basically prevents nasty expelled oil & gunk from being dumped in the air intake .

This is my second Ram and the picture I posted earlier is from my brand new 1500 which just hit 3500 miles.
That amount of oil from a lengthy trip is crazy but I would rather have it in the catch can versus my throttle body. I run the billet and have been very pleased with the quality and just how good it works.

I'm on the fence about to purchase one BUT.....does anyone have a link with any proof that these things actually work or that damage has been directly linked to NOT having a catch can? Obviously the 5.7 doesn't NEED it.

Or are they just a "feel good knowing I have one on" type of mod?

I'm not making any speculation just curious cause that's a lot of coin for a mod that isn't necessarily NEEDED and the engine will be fine without it.

I'm sure there are lots of dudes wondering the same thing. Plus they look cool :naughty:

If I wer you Sir , read through this thread and make your own decision, I believe enough proof is here .
I'd say your truck would have no issues noticable Untill around 85+K miles , just an assumption on my part .
Personally I think the need is required , but I'm a 26yr professional mechanic that highly maintains my vehicles and I plan on keeping my truck well past the 100k mark .

Hope this helps !

Buy one and make it work. When it is time for smog put your stock stuff on and then put it back after. I'm in Cali too and the smog thing makes me crazy when I see cars everyday with tail lights out and mufflers about to fall off and they do nothing to fix that. Sorry for the rant.:3681700201_eef6d1e2

I agree, better to be pro-active than re-active. IMO

Wow that looks terrible ! So did you install an occ ? If so what flavor and more pictures please
No catch can, just put a small filter on the line going into the air box in front of the air hat and sealed off the hole in the filter box.

There are videos on YouTube just search "Ram 5.7L Hemi oil catch can "

It's simple though first remove the engine cover and intake tube , then remove the hard tube from the PCV to the intake @ the throttle body . Install the oil catch can of your choice between the PCV outlet and where the hard tube entered the intake .
To my knowledge all Ram 5.7L HEMIS are plumbed the same from early 200X to the 2016 s

Hope this helps !
