Which front door speakers will fit the best with no modifications to the door? Just got a new (to me) 2006 ram 1500 Quad cab. I bought some Rockford Fosgate 6x9's but the basket is huge and won't fit without some major cutting. I would rather not cut my door up, but I also want quality speakers in the doors. Anybody have any suggestions on what speakers to get that would fit, or has anyone cut their door to fit larger speakers have any tips?

I have infinity kappa 6x9s in my front doors and I had the same problem as you. The baskets are huge and won't let the speaker fully seat into the cutout. Instead of cutting the door up, I basically just tightened the screws in the speaker until they were tight, which left me with about a 1/4" gap between the speaker and the door. I then just used some strip caulk to fill the gap. You can get it at lowes. It's a rope of putty-type stuff that you can use to fill in gaps like that. I've had them installed like this for years with no issues.

Basket..I didn't know it was called that. Good to know.

I replaced speakers last year. Some Kicker 6X9 model, and the basket was too large to go in the existing opening, also. I used some spacers from Scosche trimmed to ~1/2" margin. The slight extra height meant the new speaker fit great with full support around the rim.

It's quite easy to comprehend what I did, but I have some pictures in my thread about Android HUs.

that's about how my hertz 6x9's went in.the gap wasn't that large though.only a few mm on the last screw. so far so good.the stock speakers were very shallow.i also didn't want to cut the door and use the hertz covers,so mine looks factory.

The model number for these spacers if anyone else needs them is Scosche SS69

Anyone know of how large of a spacer will fit behind the door panels? I really want to use these speakers and thought of using a spacer. I found a 3/4 inch one and 1 inch. I think that 1 inch will make it fit perfectly but I don't know if they will fit behind the door panel.

The spacers I got from Crutchfield were 1/2" thick. I am confident 3/4" would've been fine with my speakers. Not sure about 1" or other brand speakers, though.

The spacers are inexpensive. I would get both sets You could even get something like plastic cutting boards and make some.

Figured out that I didn't need spacers after all. Turns out that the best way to fit them in was a hammer to "finesse" the sheet metal a bit. Now I just need to get a new headhunt that'll power these bad boys.

You aren't going to find a head unit that will put out more than about 15 watts rms per channel. If they can handle any power the best thing to do is to amp them.
