Heated/Cooled seat upgrade

I'm also in the process of adding heated/cooled seats to my 2013 2500 6.7 CC LB 4x4 ST. I've already upgraded the radio to the 8.4NAV (was 5.0), added the sales code for the backup camera. I have the heated leather steering wheel but still need to add the sales code (and clock spring) for that, I'll try for the heated/cooled seat sale code as well. Hoping somebody else out there has already done this upgrade by now and has all the answers ;-) :favorites13:

Your main problem will probably be having the codes added if your truck is an ST. I bought a scan tool from Auto Enginuity and have been able to add some of my own sales codes. I am in the process of getting my heated wheel and clockspring and I am going to try to get my seats work. I'm going to try to duplicate what 00/RT has done. I am hoping with some guidence from him I can get it done. Look for his thread in the 4th Gen DIY about enabling sales codes without the dealer. It's very informative but you will need to buy the scan tool to try to duplicate what he has done.

I'm not sure if this will help or not, I recently completed a leather swap from a long horn to an SLT, everything was simply plug and play. Both the heated and cooled seats work, just the LED lights don't show up in the factory panel switches. The memory buttons don't work at all.

I tried adding the sales codes to my truck, the dealership I had dealt with needed the vin of the donor truck, even with that they said after that they couldn't change or update because of the TIPM in my truck. It didn't have everything necessary to activate the sales codes in my BCM.

Good luck with your attempt to get the seats working fully.

I wish the 2013 and up trucks were the same but they are not. They require a sales code to work plus our trucks are the ST so unless you have the regular cab you won't have most of the required wiring.

Right now I'm just trying to find out what I need to get 12V to the power seats so they can function. Tough for my wife to reach the pedals if I can't move the seat :p The seat cool & heat can come later.

SLT might only have the wiring for them, but they work through seat swaps.

You say they are working, how do you activate the heated/cooled function?

Yes, they function. I received the factory heat/cooled switches for the dash bezel when I picked up the seats. The seats turn on as designed but the LED light in the switch doesn't. Once I install the heated steering wheel, that will also function but without the LED.

I'm still looking for the wiring harness for the rear heated seats but it's already -20C average and I don't have a garage to park in and keep warm while I'm taking the rear corners off to look behind the plastic, or in the storage space under the seats.

I am in the process of trying to add the wiring to activate my seats with help from 00/RT. I am just going to try to get the heated seats and wheel working first. Ruiner was able to get his seats to function even though the LED doesn't light up on the buttons just by adding the switch so his truck already had the correct wiring. I am not sure what trim level his truck is and I think it's a 2012. My truck is a 14 Express Quad Cab and I don't have any of the needed wiring. I am in the process of ordering the correct connectors to try to install the wires to activate the heated seats and go from there. From what I understand I will only need to attach two wires to the CAN block and ignition on positive and ground plus the switch bezel to try to activate the drivers seat. I am going to see if it will operate without the sales code first and then try to add the code. From what I understand it should work without the sales codes but non of the controls will show up on my RA4 screen. It will be a few days before I get all my connectors and plug housings. If I am successful with the heated seat I may try to activate the cooling function down the road if I can get a switch panel with the correct buttons.

Ah I see. I also have a 14 quad cab express. I bought a full body wiring harness but I'm going to take it to a local shop for help cutting into it. They said wiring it will be easy but they are worried the bcm won't allow the power or heat to work. I'll be following this thread for sure.

From what I have been told it might work without the codes kinda like Ruiner's truck did but you won't have the controls on the screen if you have an RA3 or RA4 radio unless you install the codes. I am going to try to install the codes with my tool but I am going to see if I can activate the heated seats with just the switches before I do. I will post back with anything I find out.

My truck is a 2012 with SLT trim, as far as I know all the trucks (of this year) have all the wiring, just whether or not they are turned on.

Having Powered seats should mean you have all the connections under, if they're manual seats, that's a different story.

Are 2013+ aux buttons for the seats on the 8.4 or under like older trucks AUX buttons.

Under the drivers seat, I have 3 power connectors, though one might be specifically for the console power and the wiring harness to connect the rear heat buttons to the rest of the system.

It works through the aux. switch on the dash or through the trouchscreen.

I have a 15 tradesman 2500 crew. I added heated seats, but did not do anything with the wiring. I have an 8.4 conversion also. I had it at the dealer for the back up camera code to be Added. I asked them if there was a heated seat code there, and there was. I have the icons on my touch screen for the seats.

Wow I am surprised that the code was there. I am almost positive it wasn't on my Express. Are you saying that you truck actually had the wiring and your heated seats are working but you just don't have the buttons in the dash or you have the icons on the radio but the seats don't work? If you have the wiring maybe the 2500's are different than the 1500 because my Express has nothing at all.

DO you know what is the difference between my 2013 Ram 2500 Crew ST and a tradesman or an SLT? I looked under the driver seat and there are 3 connectors, one yellow plug for the air bag, one small gray plug for the USB hub in the seat console, a slightly larger gray connector which supplies power to the seat console and one large gray plug maybe seat belt wiring?

What did your plugs look like with your tradesman?

Thanks for the assist :favorites13:
