So what exactly is deathwobble?
I've got an 03 1500 4x4, and I'm trying to track down a slight wobble at high speed.

I'm not sure when it started, but earlier this year, I took the truck up to 108 and it was stable, couple weeks later found out a front hub was ready to fall off though. Oops.

I usually drive it at 55-60 to and from work, and never noticed any problems, but about a month ago, I went on a long trip and discovered that it starts to wobble when hitting bumps in the road over 75, but tapers down, and at 90+ it will continuously wobble until I reduce speed.

To describe the wobbble, its like the whole body will roll from side to side, kind of harder in the back then the front, and oscillates around 2 times a second.

Is this what most call deathwobble? or is that more a blanket for any wobbles at all?

I got some new rear shocks on order, and hoping that may solve it.
Also hoping that it wont get worse when I go destroy this thing in the mud this weekend...

Thanks all.

This does not sound like the death wobble, it is more so on the 2500s.
I had a 1996 Dodge,3/4 ton,long bed,V10,4X4 and I experienced the death wobble one time, I traded it a week later.
I literally thought the cab and frame were going to separate((((((((((
I was scared ****less.

Edit=are your shocks good?
Are your tires balanced good?
Are your universal joints in good shape?

Rear shocks are going, it hops a little when going over a speed hump.
Tires have not changed, I would assume they are still balanced.

death wobble applies to trucks with solid front axles. is your truck suspension stock? meaning no level in the front or back? no lift or drop?

Tires need to be rotated regularly, or they will cup, and will go out of balance.

3 inch lift via keys for the front. otherwise, stock IFS.
It was fine after lifting it though.

The front tires are nearing their end of life, but they were fine maybe 5 months/ 15,000 miles ago, rears were replaced with some used ones and balanced not too long ago.

Death wobble is for the 2500 SFA only. I've had it on 3 of my previous trucks after leveling it. Will scare the crap out of you to the point you don't want to even see the truck anymore. Unless you know what you're doing and know how to fix it..

I'd check your tires for balancing and or replace since they are worn. Struts and shocks would also be next. Ball joints too.
