Here is my list as to what I think makes the 3rd Gen best. (Even though they are all great)

Feel free to add more:

1- HEMI
2- Big Headlights
3- Big Taillights
4- 06-08 has the MegaCab

The parts support for them also performance wise, now just need the PCMs to be better.

Performance based parts on the 3rd gens everywhere. The 4th gens are nice but they just dont have the market yet and by the time they get one, the 5th gens will be out lol.

I like the 4th gens, they are comfortable to drive..... but my 3rd gen is just a blast to drive with all the aftermarket performance upgrades available (its faster than a 4th gen :D).

Mainly the body style. The main reason why I got a ram, and 3rd gen to be specific. To me the 2nd gen didnt look aggressive and big enough. Now the 4th gen is ok, but i still prefer 3rd. The 4th gen almost seems to boxy in some areas IMO.
That unique 3rd gen sport grill sets it apart in my book!!

The only way I can stomach a 4th gen is when it is lifted with some meats under it, other than that it is a design disappointment for me. 02-05 design lines will go down in history.

A comment is borderline insane I can understand you prefer 3rd but to say the most touted and premium truck Dodge had made to date is hard to stomach just seems crazy. Go drive one and you will change your mind. I like all of them just to clarify.

I've driven them numerous times, I'm not saying they don't ride nice or they don't have a nice interior but the styling lines just don't do it for me. My buddy had a 09 that was in the shop more than on the road. Just to clarify I was talking body lines and styling, it just doesn't get it for me.

I really think they all have been game changing and I am sure when 5th Gen comes Ill love it too. My 09 has been great but only have 35000 on it I guess.

i love the 2nd gens for their off roading, never owned one but a buddy of mine has one and man oh man. that thing was a tank. he took it through the biggest holes that i wouldnt dare to go near and went through like it was nothing. his was a 96 and never done a thing to it and the transmission just went out on it a month ago.
id love to own one just for off roading. and so itd look cool towing it. once this one is payed off been thinking about getting a fix me up 2nd gen. done with the offroading in mine for good. only been stuck once in my truck. didnt mud to much, i like trails. and even for a 2wd it handled like a 4x4 some times. showed up a Z71 one time.

also love the 3rd gens. havnt had a single problem with mine. since i debadged it, it looks mean! love the body lines and it fits perfectly with the Hemi!

This is a 3rd gen thread, isn't it? lol. But seeing as someone brought up the body lines of the 4's. The gaudy Huge badges have got to go!! Big ass ram insignia and RAM 1500. too boot!! I like my 3rd gen badges , small and too the point. Not overbearing like the new 4th gen's. imo.

Rocket you dont like the badge that was formed from an actual rams's head lol, thats all I say about my buddies 2011 work truck. The tailgate badge doubles as a full size frisbee.

On the street to this date I always have noticed/loved 02-05!!! Over any other ram or make of trucks... But have always hated the ram head logo on all dodges.. But not bad on my 02 only couple small ones. Love lines, lights, grill the best. If had a newer interior would be killer.....
