New to diesel trucks. I had a 2005 Tacoma 4x4 Off-road edition. Truck was bulletproof. Just purchased a 2007 Ram 2500 MegaCab w the 5.9L. (Heard they were good) because i needed a bigger vehicle and better towing.

Any issues with these years? Just heard manly about putting programmers are bad for transmission etc that’s pretty much it. Engine is bone stock.

My old tacoma.

Welcome to the forum.

My 2007 MegaCab handled a programmer just fine.

You will want to avoid torque shocking the trans (hard on/hard off/hard on the throttle) and brace the case. Also, consider a kit that stops the transmission from bleed through past the valvebody by installing a valve body plate kit.

I know they have a few settings and i think read that maxing them out does overtime. Thanks! I’ll look into that.
