I want to take off my head cover and get it powder coated red ...

Is it just the top bolts that come off ? Do I need to drain the oil ?

Or is it that simple ... just a cover and a few bolts ? Do I need a new gasket ?

Yes... Just the top bolts (10mm socket)

No... Oil doesn't have to be drained...

No... You can re-use the gasket several times...

Loosen up all the bolts leave them in the valve cover. Lift up and side the cover over the heater hose till the bolts line up between the heater hose and the rocker arms now slide it forward and remove. The heater hose you just fold down out of your way...
