If ur not ready for a fully active system and trying to keep it simple, I'd look into a passive 3 way set. Like big bois Jbl 3 way he got. What kinda budget u thinking? That will help narrow down the hundreds of options

Edit: he got the ppi 3 way not jbl

Oh I forgot about the Images they would be a great start for a very nice sounding system plus you can make them active down the road as the tweeter can be mounted anywere including on the woofer.

My budget would be maybe $500-$800 for the speakers... :hidesbehindsofa:

The clarus C61-2 2way would be another great option plus if you wanted to hear them HAT will work with an audio dealer near you to set them so you can demo them.

Well ho lee ****, that changes things...

Illusion Audio Carbon C6 Component Set Perfectly Working Only A Few Months Old | eBay

But honestly, I would want something i could demo if i was gonna pay that much. You should look into Illusion audio, HAT, Focal, Rainbow, JL has some nice high end components. Or keep an eye out on the DIYMA classifieds, always nice stuff being sold there.

On a side note, a $3000 set of speakers could still sound like ass if not properly installed. Make sure doors are properly treated and baffle for speaker is sealed to prevent backwaves from interfering with front waves, and deadened properly etc etc.

^^^^^^ This if you look on both of our threads you can see the extent that has gone into treating doors.

You have the hard job of deciding with a nice budget like that
If I was not happy with my Dynaudio speakers, I'd probably have Morel...maybe
The Morel Hybrid would be in your budget, and they are awesome!
HAT sounds great too,,,,not as warm sounding as a Dyn, or Morel imo...but a lot of fun...snappy
I think Focals (in general) are very dynamic, efficient, very snappy, many people love Focals for good reason.
Huge fan of the Image Dynamics xs65's. VERY efficient so low power is fine.
They sound great!

Or you could go to $900 and get Dynaudio 242 System
The only thing about Dynaudio tho, is they love power
But you'll be able to tell if a drummer is using plastic tipped drum sticks, or wood tipped sticks....the detail and realism can be nutty good at times

Or you could go up to $1500!! And buy tht brax 3 way set on diyma...

Lol but like he said above, hard decision with that budget. That's y I suggested finding a local dealer of higher end equipment and demo... Not necessarily the show room but ask the employees what they run and listen to their vehicles.

Too late, I am scared ****less... not to mention more lost than ever! Lmao!!!

Thank you guys for all your replies... I am going to go read them a second time right now.

Seriously, I reeeeeeeally want to learn this stuff and I am becoming more fascinated by it all.

I'll never forget how I felt when I heard Unbrokens system, I was literally speechless and even confused with how something could sound that amazing... It was mind boggling!

Sorry to be such a PIA. With Skar amps and SI subs, what speakers would be a similar sound quality level???

Example: If I told you guys about my trucks audio system and mention the amps and subs, what speakers would you expect in my doors and dash??? Btw, I am not trying over spend for the sake of over spending, and I would like an easy install with little to no modifying. :)

I am not a sq connoisseur like you guys... I am rookie enough to think that my Kickers sound pretty good, lol, but I don't think they match the level of subs and amps that I am getting.

This will help us...
What kind of music to you listen to (be specific)
Do you like to listen at higher volumes?
I like to feel the snap of my mid bass speakers, and my subs are always high enough to give a sturdy punch to the mid section.
You know...high volume, windows down type stuff lol
Do you listen to a lot of live albums?
Just trying to narrow down what may be perfect to your likes and dislikes

Sorry, somehow I answered your question on my audio build thread...

I listen to a broad range of music, but my favorite is electronic (dubstep, chillstep, techno, house, drum-n-bass, etc..). I also listen to some Metallica and Stone Temple Pilots, and occasionally Rihanna, lmao!
I do not listen to much at higher volumes, though this stereo build might change that...
I do drive with my windows down most of the time.
I do not like rumbling bass, if that makes any sense. I like tight, quick, bass that feels like someone hit you in the chest with an aluminum baseball bat, but it was so quick you don't know where it came from.

So after copletely resetting all my gains for the third time lol, I got into my truck this morning and had Three Days Grace- Transient of Venus in and the song was "Operate" and omg there is what sounds like merauca's playing in that song that I have never heard before. I am a firm believer now of finding speakers that are accurate I mean I spent almost nothing on a tweeter upgrade and it is leaps and bounds over the super tweeters I had before. I'm kinda just in awe. Now hopefully I can tune the rest of it tonight.
