Engine balance
No, the balance weight is on the flexplate for a 96+ truck. Trans goes right in, either converter. What you will actually have to do is remove the pan and do some sensor swapping to match the 2000 trans to the 97 harness.- dapepper9

Can’t recommend an installer but what are you doing for tuning it? Can’t just slap it in and go, I highly recommend contacting FRPTuning. They’re out of Houston/Katy and will get you setup with that. I very much recommend not dealing with the half-assed crap tunes you can get through Hughes- dapepper9

What gas V8 is in the 2001 Ram 2500 ? Same as my 2005 ?
Plenum isn't fixed with the TSB, it's hidden with timing retard because when the engine would burn oil it would ping. Pretty easy job the actually fix it though and plenty of info here on the forum, including a sticky thread. Cracked heads isn't a concern. They all crack between the valve...- dapepper9

What did you do to/with your second gen today?
Went from a single 3" exhaust to a dual 3" with a different muffler. Not sure exactly what sound I'm looking for but I gotta say the duals aren't bad. Used a FlowMonster muffler from Holley.
