Thanks! I really like having the flatbed, its just so much handier for me with bikes, 4 wheelers, engine parts, and I don't have to worry about some ******* scratching my box all up reaching into it for something! My smarty Jr is the version with the ME software of course. Its pretty basic, I...
Here she is in all her flatbed glory. I keep a Tonka dump truck on my trailer held down by a 2 inch ratchet strap when I'm towing empty, that gets lots of smiles. :rotflmao:
Get the programmer as soon as you can. The EPA has cracked down on them and the only ones available now are the ones currently on the shelf, no more delete capable tuners are being produced.
I can answer that for you. The only problem the tuners caused on that era of transmission was adding more power to a transmission that was already inherently a little weak. Compound that with the fact that if you have the power you are gonna use it and soon enough you are paying for a built trans.
Been running pretty steady with the truck for the last few weeks since installing the deletes. Mileage according to the computer has been running close to 18mpg @ 80mph through the hills with the cruise set and 19.5 running 70-75mph, not too bad considering that I have a flatbed and large...
So, I bought my 2010 cummins with a little over 50k on the clock in bone stock configuration. It ran and towed decently enough and the mileage was acceptable but after the addition of a quality steel flatbed it knocked a few digits off the mileage naturally. The pulling power was okay but to me...
Duh its heavy, its got 1500lbs of diesel engine in the front of it. If you say your 04 is lighter enough for you to notice you are full of it. My 2010 takes fuel from the hi-flow nozzles no problem and I went through a mountain pass with my foot buried in it, pulling a loaded gooseneck trailer...
I think as long as you dont get crazy with the snake oils and stick to the reputable stuff you'd be alright. I hear what your saying, i've seen folks dump crazy things in theyre fuel tank with dreams of power and fuel mileage. I am a HD Mechanic on the North slope of Alaska in the prudhoe...
I take oiled elements and drop kick them into dumpsters, junk 1950's technology that i've seen mess up more MAF sensors than anything. The factory setup is actually a good setup but if you are stuck on an aftermarket I would go with a washable dry filter. My humble opinion.
I can see an unusually an high amount of sulphur causing issues but the sulphur content in standard pre ULSD diesel would not hurt that system because that system isnt exactly new technology, both the pump and the injector technology has been around for a while. Also, you need to remember that...
I'm going to have to disagree, added lubricity to fuel is good no matter what. Whatever is in this "fuel magic" is hanging up on the o2 sensor and it isnt liking it (many o2 sensors do the same thing when engine coolant entires the exhaust). The stuff in your fuel magic eventually gets cooked...
If you bought it as a car to bomb around town then you are going to have issues. Any diesel with a DPF is going to experience the same problems under those driving conditions. Cummins may be a little worse but not much. Mine doesn't make extra oil and never tells me to drive to regen because...
