Fixed the ujoint and checked the rest out. One ball joint is a little loose. Tie
Rod a little loose at pitman arm and boot on center tie rod is torn. I guess I’m just going to bite the bullet and rebuild the whole thing. I still don’t see how that caused my steering wheel to suddenly be so...
He said he hit a pothole, so it’s possible. You would think that would t do as much as some of the off-roading we do. When he gets home, I’ll have him turn the steering while I look at the linkage.
So the only thing I see wrong is the driver side u joint is broken. I don’t see how that would cause the steering wheel to go off center though. Having a heck of a time getting the hub off so it’s going to soak in some PB blaster.

Went through that nightmare when I got mine. One snapped and didn’t think I would ever get it out. Just kept soaking with penetrating oil. Removed the heat shields and don’t miss them.

Don’t know, but should be pretty easy to check. There’s an access plate on the back side of the axle where you can see if it is engaged. At least it is that way on my 1500. I took the cover off when I replaced the axle seal.

My passenger mirror is broken. It's one of the chrome power mirrors. I was wondering if it would be easy to upgrade my mirrors to the ones on the 98 and up trucks.
