Sorry if this is already on here.
I was wondering if there are any aftermarket coil packs that could improve performance. Also are there better spark plugs. My truck is about to roll 75k think its about time for a revamp.

If you’re engine is pretty much stock, you have nothing really to gain from upgrading the coils. For the most part, aftermarket coils are just rebranded OE coils that seem to fail more often. Save you’re money for something else. As for plugs, NGK iridium is now the factory plug and they work very well.

As stated in the other thread, if you have a truck that requires the 30,000mi plug change then yes, you can upgrade to the '15+ coils and see extremely small gains but it should be the last mod you do. The stock coils can handle a lot of power and are rarely an issue.

Alright good to know I thought that there would be something better but if stock fine I’ll leave it alone

Moved this post here better section

I have a late model 2013 with 8 speed, built may 2014. I just changed the plugs out while the dealer was doing some warranty work and they threw them in for $100. I have the 30000 mile copper plugs. I run pretty much all the bolt on mods as well as headers and a hemifever 93 tune. I would like to upgrade the coil packs and plugs to the newer style next time. What does everyone recommend? I would like to go with the best. I do like the mds red coil packs for color since I have added some red into the bay, but I would like to get the best coils on market for the truck. I like the sultans my question is are there any others? What do you recommend.

Anyone familiar with the Granatelli coil packs...they make 2 types 65000 and 80000.

Honestly just upgrade to the newer OE plugs and Coils. Even in most moderate boosted applications the factory coils are all you need.

I suppose you have already tested and discovered the power difference already, however, if you have not based on the comments, the answer is YES! you can draw more power from your hemi through changing out stock ignition coil packs for other ones. The trick is in understanding the coils winding and gauged wire used in the coil. Think about it like you would a persons arteries. When constricted, one can suffer from catastrophic heart failure and death. Although a morbid example, apply it to the flow of volts through the coils. The larger the gauge wire, the lest resistance and greater flow. A test conducted on stock and aftermarket coil pack showed an increase of 11 hp simply from changing to a different coil pack. While you would also need to for a change in spark plug gap (you do not need to change the current stock gap), the fact is you can increase hp by introducing a beefier ignition coil pack. It will most certainly cost you more than stock, but if you care little for the change in price, you will be pleased with the change. The change alters the power band, providing more power at lower RPM ranges; differences you can feel.

If you're referring to the test on a 06 or 08 Hemi, from several years ago, that test doesn't apply to anything past late 2013.That's when they switched to irridium plugs, and the factory coils were upgraded. The stock coils are good to 1100 hp now.Ripp claims their coils will show a horsepower increase, but i highly doubt their test is actually a legitimate test,as a good dyno operator can make a dyno test into anything they want it to show.In other words save your money and put it towards something that will give a power increase, like a 6.4 manifold swap.
