I am new to this site but am hoping someone can help. I have a 2014 Ram Crew cab 4x4 with a 5.7L engine with 50k miles. Today the check engine light came on but neither my code reader or Advance Autos reader can see any codes. The fuel mileage seams to be dropping and the engine isn't going into "eco" mode. I am just starting to investigate what could be the problem but thought maybe someone hear might have had the same experience. Thoughts?

Very odd that its not showing a code. It may be a code that is stored in another module besides the PCM which an everyday code reader might not be able to access. You could try unhooking the battery for several hours which would clear any stored codes.

But even a bad or poor sealing gas cap will set a code of some sort, usually an EVAP code...

Maybe the code readers you tried aren't good, or you're not using them correctly. Try another code reader or take it to dealer to diagnose. Whatever the issue is, there's a chance that it'll be covered under powertrain warranty and you'll have dealership do the repair anyway.

+1. Some codes are stored in other modules, many that only specialized equipment (usually dealership only) can read. It stinks, but it can happen.

My father-in-law got a "SERVICE 4x4" error on his 2015 Cherokee, my code reader wouldn't see anything. PCM had no codes, first dealership couldn't replicate, said "we don't see any issues" and wouldn't even hook it up to look for stored codes. Second dealership did the right thing and pulled up two codes from the module/computer that controls the transfer case where the issue was.

Battery cable removal cleared CEL. So far the light is staying out.

Check engine light stayed off for about a week but came back on last night. Looks like I will need to take to a dealer to see what code it shows since no code reader I can get my hands on reads anything.

You should still be under the 5year/100K mile drive train warranty.

Make it your dealer's problem.

Borrowed a different code reader. This time I have two codes. P05A5 and U11E9. Both codes say "No DTC definition found. See service manual" I do not have a service manual. Can some tell me what the codes are?

So is that a common problem? Is it usually a replacement or can it be repaired

P05A5 - what is the "a" circuit?

U11e9 - "lost communication with ags" could I have a connector off that is causing both? I cant work on it to the weekend but it will drive me nuts thinking about it till then
