Anyone have experience using these kits and which type you have used. My guess would be to use their Boltzen AC CANBUS Series: 35w HID Kit with Relay / Anti-Flicker Harness here

http://www.opt-7.com/boltzen-ac-canbus-series-35w-hid-kit/

Not sure if should use the anti-flicker harness or these resistors instead. Not much price difference.

http://www.opt-7.com/tipm-resistor/

I’ve seen good reviews for their rear light bars on this site but these are different types of products ect.

http://www.opt-7.com/redline-triple-led-tailgate-light-bar-with-reverse-sequential-turn-signals/

I also just wanted to note that I have looked at headlight revolution and the GTR lighting 5th Gen kits being offered. I’d probably prefer the 55watt sets if I went that route. But not sure I want to justify dropping $300 usd each on 2 sets(highs and lows) for a grand total of like $775 CDN. for that price I could purchase the highs, lows and resistors from Opt-7($204 USD including tax, shipping and after Christmas discount code) and still have cash left for Morimoto LED Fogs in the future and/or other mods.

I would be installing these in OEM projectors if that makes a difference.

Since you’re putting them in a projector throw any idea of LED out the window. They will not perform well in there.

That being said. I had Opt 7s original led bulbs. I know they’ve updated their led bulbs but their original was such garbage I’ll never buy their product again. Not only was the light output terrible. The bulbs failed and so did their replacement.

I now have GTR GEN 3 LED fog lights and they are fantastic, but morimoto is coming out with a new set of fog light pods on the 30th. Morimotos LED foglight pods perform phenomenally. I use their 50W HID kit for my headlights in my projectors and they’re easily the best HID kit I have ever bought in terms of performance and customer service.

If you’re looking for headlights I highly recommend going HID especially since you’re using projectors and an led in a projector housing will be terrible in terms of performance. If you’re looking for fog lights jump on the morimoto led fogs as soon as they release.

This is how see it. Since you have projectors you must and the very least have a sport. If you have a sport you spent at least 50k for it. If you spent at least 50k on a truck why would you cheap out on headlights (a very important aspect of any vehicle). You get what you pay for on any automotive product. So I’d just spend the money up front and be satisfied. On my charger instead of buying the best lights I bought the best price. And it bit me on the ass. I went for the best of the best with my ram.

Morimoto led fog lights available Dec 30th. Also has an option to buy yellow film (yellow 3000k is the best performing temperature for fog/snow/rain)

I have no desire to use LED excluding the Morimoto Fogs. On paper at first and when I talked to all my local shops they were all promoting their in house brand of LEDs for my truck. But as with anything I’ve purchased I read constantly and found zero reviews that favoured LED. Hell took me a year after I bought the truck to pull the trigger on Bilsteins.

I see you tried Opt7s LED kit. Regardless of the failure in that product I assume the HID could be different case. How was customer service with these guys?

Customer service was no problem at all. Told them they failed had to destroy the bulb that failed and send a picture and they sent the replacement. The product quality on the other hand was below par. When I bought the product I was expecting a huge noticeable upgrade from the stock halogen bulbs and saw no improvement. They advertised the lights as being multiple times brighter than stock and they APPEARED brighter but the light was far too scattered and very little of the light was usable. Then to top it off the bulbs that were supposed to outlast the life of the truck failed twice.

I tried hid kits from eBay to hid distributor websites. Morimoto blew away the competition. Having lost all respect for opt7 I did not give any more of their products a chance. So I unfortunately can’t give any advice on anything else from them, but I can say morimoto has an outstanding product. They also back their product, have great installation guides, and if installation gets confusing or you run into a hiccup their customer service will be there to walk you through it. Their 50W HIDs were far better than I expected. It wasn’t until I had the bulbs installed that I even realized the rams have bifocal projectors in them. I thought it was just projector low beams and reflector high beams. When I flipped on the high beams for the first time and that shield dropped in the projector I was astonished at how far, how high, and how wide I could see.

My advice for anyone buying any hid kit buy 3 of everything in the kit. Put your extra on a shelf and if anything fails you only have to take your truck apart once and don’t have to wait for the ups guy to bring your replacement before you have working lights.

Also when I installed my kit I had to re-aim the headlights a slight bit lower. More than likely because I got the 50 watt kit. People were not pleased coming at me on the road.

Opt-7 is garbage, ordered HIDs for my wife's vehicle, and ended up returning both kits. Bulbs never fit on her fogs and her head lights never worked properly. Customer service is absolutely terrible and there's no phone number to call and they refuse to provide one when asked. I went with Diode Dynamics on my Rebel and have had no issues a years later. Also look for the new LEDs head lamps called "clock work LEDs" the bulbs can be turned to get the correct beam pattern in projectors. HIDS are brighter but a huge pain in the ass.

Well I guess there is just no short cutting quality then. Looked at Morimoto 50Watt for 2015 Mopar kits. And they’re $275 with the carbon fibre mounting bracket. Plus all the extra wiring to do them compared to the GTR 5th Gens. I think the extra $25 USD is probably worth the simpler installation for me.

Probably my next purchase after Christmas

I have the Morimoto 35 watt HID kit in my low beam projectors that I purchased from The Retrofit Source that has performed great for over a year. And I also installed Supernova V-3 LEDS in the high beams that I purchased from Headlight Revolutions that work great.

Is there any reason you with with the 35 instead of the 55?

The 55 watt HID bulbs run to hot, and will either melt or cause other issues in the housing. Plus the same bulb is used as the 35 watt but they have ballasts that overdrive the bulb for the higher output. This will also shorten the bulb life by around 50%. Plus the 35 watt kit has a 5 year warranty, and the 50 watt are 2-3 year.
When upgrading to the 35 watt HiD they will a lot brighter than the halogen bulb, and the difference is not that more with the 50 watt.

For what it is worth, you do not need the carbon fiber mounting kit. The ballast has mounting holes in them, and you will not see them because they mount behind the headlights.

I agree on the short life if you by e-bay special hid's. If you get a quality kit like Morimoto they will last for years. Plus TRS gives you a 5 year warranty on them.

I’ve been running their 50 kit for about a year now. Haven’t had any issues with it. Hopefully it stays that’s way.
