question for anyone that might know, I'm going to be doing my front and rear diff fluid changes In my 2014 1500 with the anti slip rear. I'm using amsoil severe gear oils as Ive always used amsoil and love them. also I cant get redline anywhere in my state. amsoil says it has the additives for LSD rear ends but if I experience chatter or slip, add the their non slip additive. I ordered some of that additive with the fluids. my question, is there any harm in just adding some of the anti slip additive right off the bat? I don't really want to chance any slip or chatter. I'm doing my truck and my wifes tuck (same exact truck) at the same time and was going to add half of the bottle to each rear diff.

will you be using Amzoil in the front as well?

yes amsoil 75-90 in the front, 75-140 in the rear and the mopar BW44 fluid for the T case.

do you know if you have the ZF front differential? The local dealer said they don't recommend any other fluid than the spec'd mopar fluid for the ZF manufactured front diff. I'm hoping I can get some feedback from others for an acceptable alternative to the dealer fluid at $56/ltr or at least a reason for the need for the mopar fluid vs. a more cost effective or superior performing alternative product. this is what my ZF front diff looks like. Thanks.ZF frnt diff.jpg

Put my MagHytec diff cover on tonight. A little bit more complicated than I thought it was going to be but not bad. I had planned to get a bunch of pics to post but I ended up in a time crunch.

Couple things that might help the next person doing this:

-Disconnect the driver's side sway bar bushing. It makes getting the MH cover on a LOT easier.

-it says the cover takes about 5 quarts but I put 4 qts in and it was over the full line on the dipstick. Will check it tomorrow and update.

-This has been mentioned before on the forum but I'll mention it again, the cover is VERY close to the panhard bar. We're talking less than 1/8" but it does clear cover. I'll get a pic of this and update.

-The factory sealant on the factory cover comes off surprisingly easy. You can almost rub it off with a rag.

-There was no magnet in my diff

-The fill port is the dipstick port on the MH cover and you don't need a pump to fill it. Theres plenty of room to use a small funnel and pour it in.

I recommend this cover for anyone who tows. I do most of my repairs/mods in my folks heated garage which is about 7 miles away. When I drained the fluid it was surprisingly warm for being 25* out. The factory cover was quite warm as well. When I got home which was the same 7 mile drive, I crawled under and felt the MH cover and it was cool to the touch. I have no hard data but from just feeling the cover, it was a huge reduction in heat with the MH.

Also the drain plug and the dipstick of the MH cover have strong magnets in them. Plus it looks badass.

For anyone who hasn't seen the inside of the rear diff here it is.b350f41978f4aa92b148e7e2b3c39130.jpg

Unfortunately no. I had 3qts of Amsoil Severe Gear 75w140 that I had sitting here and I put one qt of Redline 75w140 that I had from last time I changed the diff fluid so fluid cost this time was $0. But I plan on getting some RL 75w140 to put in next time
