I bought a LED brake light. The instructions warn me that I may see a warning about no working light. Sure enough, evic says my brake light is out. lED have less resistance, so this error is common. Add resistor or deal with warning. I wish I knew what type of resistor to buy.

I used the Canbus 194 bulbs from superledlights and now no error message on EVIC.

I dug this thread up while doing net search. I have a 2017 PW and installed a Rhino rear bumper with their supplied bulbs. Same problem you guys are having. First the bulbs are junk. One went out within a month, replaced it went out in a month as well as the opposite side few months later. Same message on HUD. Plate lights out message even when working. It's a resistance thing. Im just looking for a better light. Have gotten tips about opt7 brand. If don't work I'm just going to install some aftermarket halogens and be done.

AAH yes I see the bulb replacement vid. pop out of OEM housing etc. The problem is this housing no longer exists. I replaced OEM bumper with a Rhino rear bumper. These do not have the same factory plug ins to utilize OEM plate light housings. It came with non resistor LED's to wire into factory harness. Currently I am looking for the bulbs you guys mentioned in a housing with wires or the proper resistor to another style LED.

I would bet money on it, that it is the lack of power that the LED's are pulling. Some of the trucks are real finicky with LED's. I have some from superbright in my tag with no errors shown. But, when I use them for reverse lights, I get an error, even though they were working.

And, as stated above, some LED's are polarity based... meaning they have to be in a certain way. If you insert the LED and is doesn't come on, take it out and flip it around to swap the ends and it should work.

Yes 2 volt required to run LED that Rhino supplied without to wire into a 12v system without resistors. Theyll work short term but it's like replacing AA batteries haha. Im pretty handy with fab and cutting. If I can't find solution I'll go back to halogen bulbs and cut / drill new bumper as required

These come in prewired housing. Can't flip to change polarity.

Funny part is if you watch the Rhino install ytubes they say just put wire thru plate holes and wire into harness like it's easy fix.. yeah till they blow every 30 days haha. Those lights are a dime a dozen off eBay for good reason. I just need to figure out a resistance fix or change lighting option altogether

I bought them on amazon. They're chinese but they work just fine, just like the interior lights i got from the same manufacturer. I think the lack of resistance is telling the computer that the bulbs are gone or blown. :emotions122:

my back ups lights send me this message. I just ignoreit

i swapped for the Sylvania zevo 6000k for reverse lights and license plate bulbs and they worked fine (& bright) however the factory bulbs wouldnt come out without breaking in the light socket. the bulbs would come out and the metal wire in the bulbs would rip partly out. the truck was built in march of 2017 and ive had it new since august. thought that was odd.
