ok people it is that time of year again. Winter is here and I want to disable ESC so I can play in the snow and drift around corners. Can anyone tell me how to turn this off while in 2wd?

-4wd high and hold traction control button for several seconds.
-can I disable it with the i2?

I think there is a option to disable it with the I2 but you have to redo it every time you restart the truck or you can contact your tuner and tell them you want a play tune with it disabled. You may already know but it will also disable your ABS. I'm sure others will chime in.

If you turn off the Traction Control using the button below your head unit, that disables (mostly) ESC. If I remember the tech data I read a while back correctly, the yaw sensors get dumb and anti-spin sensors are shut off when TC is disabled.

I don't think it's an option on a stock I2 but you could always PM Hemifever to find out if he can do it as part of a custom tune.

As often as you'd use it, though, I'd not program TC off cause most times you are going to want it on. I'd just turn it off each time you turn on the truck as it defaults to ON every time the key is cycled.

Yea that is lame there isn’t an easy way to turn off ESC. I also remember reading you can disable it by removing the ABS fuse. Has anyone tried this?

You'll throw a code but I did it on my 2014 2500 with the 6.4L when I wanted to have some fun in the snow.

It works but again it was a temporary thing. I kinda liked having ESC and ABS for day to day driving in wet conditions.

Yes I totally agree but would be fun to remove that fuse when I find a snowy parking lot..... :)

I might try wiring that fuse to a switch into the truck so I can turn if off right inside.

There used to be a switch called "NoESP" out there that you could wire in to a car or truck and it ran to the fuse box to the ESP/ABS fuse. The switch powered down that circuit and you could drift to your heart's content. Turn it back on, cycle the key and off you go for day to day driving.

ZAutomotive makes it but they only list it for the LX & LY platform MOPAR cars (300/Charger/Magnum & Challenger) but I suspect it might work on the trucks as well.

I have one on my SRT8 and use it at the dragstrip.

I messed with the ESC button last week extensively last week in the snow on my stock 6.4/2500 Laramie.

In the book, it says there is a difference in just pressing the button momentarily and holding it in for 5 secs... *If equipped*. It doesn't say what equipment allows this difference, but I can tell you that mine does not have whatever it is that allows this secondary mode.

2wd- Zero Effect

4WD HI- It will spin a little, then kick in noticeably after a few revolutions of the tires.

4WD LOW- Spin all you like!

Put it in 4hi and hold the traction control button for like 10 seconds and then it should display that the ESC is disabled.

Yes, I tried that in all drive modes, all while stopped. No difference on my particular truck.

I've done it on my old 2013 5.7, but I don't remember the specific fuse. Worked great.

Want to control it?

Disabling or turning ECS & TCS off and on:
F26 (30 amp - Antilock Brakes - Stability Control Module - Valves) is the fuse to pull.
Or
Complete this mod to turn it off and on, on the fly in any mode, 2wd, 4wd auto, 4wd or 4wd low:
Wire in a 30amp fuse from F26 socket * to a 30amp NC (normally closed) relay.
Wire in a dash on/off switch to control the relay. Or, I used a remote-controlled wireless switch to control the relay and linked it to a HomeLink (garage door) button. This saves the trouble of pulling wires into the cab and installing a switch.

You know when it is off because the EVIC displays "Service ESC" and "Service ABS"

* I modified a 30amp fuse by cutting the top off, cutting the bridge wire and wired to the
relay via the new inline fuse. Be sure of what side of the F26 socket is 12v
I modified the fuse because I could not find an adapter to fit the F26 Fuse Socket
You know when it is off because the EVIC displays "Service ESC" and "Service ABS"

F76 fuse (10 amp - Antilock Brakes - Electronic Stability Control) - DO NOT PULL THIS ONE! EVIC displays "Service ESC" and yellow engine (MIL) light.
F06 fuse (40 amp - Antilock Brakes - Electronic Stability Control Pump) - DO NOT PULL THIS ONE. Leaves error codes that have to be cleared.

If I pull the F26 fuse, the EVIC will display "Service ESC" and "Service ABS" correct?

If I put the fuse back in, does the display go back to normal? Does this store any codes that need clearing?

Thx
