looking to add a Powerbass 10” sub under my rear seat? Saw some good and bad reviews about fitment if some of them. Some said seat wouldn’t go down all the way etc...
You guys have any luck? Looking to just do a single so I don’t loose all my storage areas.

Yeah that’s WAY too much work for me. The prefab boxes are like 50-100 bucks but saw some feedbacks saying they didn’t fit and didn’t clear. Others said works and fits great. Lol soooo just wanted some input of others experiences. Appreciate that link biggest horn!

I bought a foxbox and it fits under my seats, but I had to raise them with the spacers they supplied. I can fold my seat back down all the way. Best enclosure I've owned. I do have my old one for sale. It is sealed. Can't remember the name of the joint I bought it from though. I didn't know if I'd like the sound of the ported compared to sealed. It's a fantastic enclosure. Sounds really good. I have an RE Audio SCX10 in it because of it's small enclosure space. You have to find a sub that will work in that size of an enclosure. The RE Audio I have works, I believe Sundown e series will work, as well as a DC Audio level 2 will work.

I have a single fox box as well. As stated above, with the seat spacers everything fits perfectly. If I did it again I'd go the same route.

I did the $50 single 12” box off amazon with prime shipping. I used a 12” pinoneer shallow sub and I had to add a top layer of 3/4” MDS and cut out a larger speaker hole. The 12” shallow sub was actually a 13” hole or something and it wouldn’t fit all the way down in the prefab box. $50 box, $8 in mDF and a jigsaw. I had some black carpet laying out and she worked good. The shallow sub with the added height of the extra wood put the sub basically up into the bottom of the seat. So I cut some 3/4” pine and made some seat spacers. I powered it with a pioneer 1600w d class amp or about 300w rms at 4ohm and she sounded real good for a single shallow sub in a non ported box.

For what it’s worth, go with a 10” box and drop in a shallow 10” sub, u might have to open the hole alittle but 10” subs come in a lot smaller and shallower sizes where you prob wouldn’t even need a shallow sub. I made a spot for the amp under the pass rear seat.

I just got a new 18 with the alpine system and not even one day old already swapped the sub out for a 8” pioneer shallow sub and all the dash with JBL and the rear doors. The 8” doesn’t hit nearly as hard with 150w vs the 12” with 300w.

Ported is “louder” and deeper. A sealed box hits cleaner and crisper. I prefer sealed bc I like clean crisp bass. I’ve had like 10 custom systems so I know what I like at this point.

Don’t forget you need to match the sub to the box. So the internal volume must fall in the speakers recommended area. A ported and a sealed box change the values a good bit for a given sub.

If I remember the single 12” box only barely offered enough internal volume for a low requirements of the shallow 12” sub. Remember box internal cuft and you have to subtract the amount of volume the speaker takes up in the box.

That is a myth. If done right, a ported can sound just as good as sealed.

Convert, for now.

A ported box can sound good, just more peaky around tuning frequency.
But usually ported setups, max power handling drops on the driver.

I wouldn't go with a shallow sub. IMO, there are subs out there that will fit in a fox box as long as it's not too deep. Just make sure air space requirements are suitable to the sub you're looking at.
