Did ya notice the PUP has some titanium in it? Is that the new wonder drug?

As for the pup vs Redline uoa above , let's not forget what we've learned here over the last 4 years .
1) well maintained , well lubed hemi engines produce lower wear # with more miles and with each uoa .

2) PUPis a great oil , especially in the hemi

3)unlike other oils redline oil has polar properties this pulling more furous metals out during the drain into the uoa bottle , thus showing more ppm of iron

4) very small ppm of magnesium & titanium greatly benifits the TBN

JUST SAYIN .... I'm certainly not bashing pup as I think PUP is a fantastic oil ...

Just looking at the UOA it would be a toss up which way to go. But if you look at the base 4/5 for redline or what are we calling GTL 3+, I think the stronger base would win in the long run.

LOL, we can get redline 5/30 by ordering thru Walmart for $20 a qt. Talk about price gouging.

Pretty clear that either choice would be fantastic, no right answer, just a choice. TBN left was great, if I'm that guy I would stick with PUP. I wonder if 5w30 PUP will even give better wear numbers, maybe near zero. surprising to me, but that engine is running great. Also zero on the water, as always. Note the higher flash point, those esters are talking to you right there.

zero shearing in either oil, and both readings above stated visc at 100, really smooth engine. 9.5 visc at 100, I don't even think that is a 5w20, I have to look that up. Yeah the range is 9.3, so redline is out of bounds on that 20 weight, lol.

Wait, you're serious??
Yeah, I was checking prices on PUP and thought just for ***** and giggles I'd check redline thru Walmart. Thought WTF is this, you got to be kidding.

I just can't believe how well the PUP held TBN ..... When I ran PUP I only ran it for 2,100 miles before I dumped it because I started getting a very faint tick ...on my UOA at 2,100 miles the TBN was 5.5 a strong tbn as expected for only 2k ....hard for me to believe that in another 6,000 miles as on this UOA that the TBN would still be above a 5 . Maybe there was a quart or three poured in just prior to the sample ????at least some make up oil or something ?? If not then it's the most amazing TBN I've ever seen and it even blows old AmsoilSS 25,000 mile oci TBN out of the water at a 5 + TBN in 8,000 miles .7585a3c563b98f32e7d90259917000ca.jpg

I dunno if I'd say besting the SS by .85 on the TBN would qualify it as "blowing it out of the water"... but if you see the "other" oil on that UOA... now THAT was blown out of the water! :) Definitely impressive for PUP though. I'd venture to guess a couple makeup quarts were added during the OCI as well. For reference, here's my UOAs... first is factory fill, second two are 0W40 SS. Keep in mind that in each of the SS runs, there was over 5k miles of heavy towing (10-14k) east coast to midwest back-and-forth runs and no makeup oil needed/added whatsoever.

Isn't PUP what the supposed factory fill is?

I could've sworn a while back in the thread someone posted a UOA on the factory fill which had all the characteristics of PYB 5w20

I thought yellow bottle too, but then I read somewhere that it was supposed to be the Pennzoil sythetic blend. Have you ever tried to find the synthetic blend? It almost as scarce as PUP, especially in 5/20.

And what's funny is if you go to Pennzoil's website they recommend PUP and Gold, and as an alternative you can use PP.

I'll have to check that out. A few years ago it was the typical "good/better/best" rating for PYB/PP/PUP respectively
