I love my truck but, one big thing that really kills it for me is I bought the truck with 3.21 gears. I got it at the end of last year marked down big time. At the time I was thinking no big deal I will just throw some 3.92's in it and still come out way ahead. Damn was I wrong on that one. This really has me considering trading in for a 17 or 18 so I can get exactly what I want on the truck before sinking to much more money on this one.

Mine came with 3.92s I have no reason to change my gears out

I’ve had my 2014 6 speed for nearly 3 years now and love it pretty soon will be putting an XP transmission in it and forged internals in the motor.

How about a link to XP transmission, I have the 2014 6-speed also.

Thanks

No doubt yours came with 3.92's and there is no reason for you to change your gears. What I was saying is mine came with the 3.21's and I had planed on throwing some 3.92's in mine but, I came to find out after buying the truck that it cost several grand to do a gear swap in the new 8 speed Rams. That is why I am considering trading in for a new ram before sinking $7000 on a performance upgrade for a truck I am not completely satisfied with and that I may trade in.

I know in the old auto transmissions, the shift kits were there to speed up the transitions between gears, effectively firming the shifts. The smooth shifting trans slipped a lot between gears building up heat and wearing the clutches more. So I can see where the Sonnax might increase trans life and long as it doesn't firm the shifts too much.

I'd love to go with a set of LT headers, but the things are really expensive. Add in the cost of a good y tube, and that leave getting them coated out. Besides, not sure I'll have the truck long enough to wear out a good set of stainless headers, I'm an old guy.

The e-fan mod is a good deal, but I've never figured out why a 180 tstat is good. Blowers are great, but I don't think I'd ever put a centrifugal on, for me, there's nothing like a big roots blower on top of the engine.

I won't say it's a "complaint", but as of this moment, I'm not "thrilled" with my PC. I've been playing with it for a month or so, mostly in City mode. Sport was a bit much, and Sport+ was almost uncontrollable for me. At the moment I've gone the other direction to Eco mode to see if it makes a difference in MPG. If not, I'll probably ditch it and continue the search.

It does increase the pedal response, don't get me wrong. But I seem to adjust to whatever the pedal is doing, and pretty soon I can't tell the difference.

ECO mode help in the city/hwy?

The 180 t-stat is great. I feel like you can't push the engine hard enough lol. It stays cool even you push it hard

To the people running a 190 or 180 tstat does the oil still get up to 210 for the boiling off humidity? I’m kinda hesitant on swapping since I hardly hit 212 as is. No active shudders

ECO mode help in the city/hwy?

It's not likely to help on the highway as I normally use the cruise. But in the city, it makes it easier to do slower starts and feather the throttle more to get into into fuel saver. Hasn't been a huge increase yet, so next tank I'm setting it for Eco -4 and see how that works.

I am using an S&B intake with the snorkel that they offer. I run their dry filter with a filter sock!

Some folks who have the Sport hood go with the mopar hood intake but the ratings have been subpar...many argue that it’s not a real ram air due to the aerodynamics of the hood and the airflow over the truck.

I would recommend some 4” flex piping and some type of scoop behind the grille to collect and force air into the box. Something like this, see the intake scoop on the left. This style would collect and force more air into the CAI. A member on here designed and wrote a thread about this design. That was a pick he posted.

Mindy, do you have a catch can installed on your truck? If not you should get one. I run a Moroso catch can many run Billet. Here is a recent thread about a new one. Moroso also has a valve at bottom for easy draining. Billet has to be unscrewed and emptied.

No. I don't really think it's necessary unless you have a drag car

You’d be surprised how much blow by oil goes right back down into the intake manifold. I have had one on for a few years...still amazed...Two sides of the fence for catch can ppl... guess your on the other side.
