im debating going with Thuren fabrication King shocks or Icon’s. I do mild off-roading but the truck mainly sees road. I want it to handle well as I’ve been used to the quality of Carli on my old f250. Part of the reason I want to go the icon route is cost, less parts to malfunction due to not having reservoirs, and with lower cost I can afford a set of zone UCA’s just to be safe. If I go the king route it’s more expensive but they are custom tuned to your exact wants. However if I go this route I won’t be spending money on UCA’s. So the question is with the way I drive are they worth the extra money for those who have experience? Or would I be better off spending less money and going with icon and getting a set of the UCA’s. Also any dealers want to throw me a good deal??? Lol.

Thanks in advance for the feedback!

tough call. I guess it depends on how often you off road and how hard you run it. You have to ask yourself if you are off roading it hard enough to need the Kings.

We offer both brands so when you choose let us know and we can quote you with a discount that we offer all the members here

Well they were in the running for a long time but they only come in a 2.0 and I’d prefer a 2.5 shock for the front. Although I read something about icons leaking which makes me fairly hesitant to buy. Are yours tuned and did you do anything else to the suspension with them?

Ya I have heard bad things about Kings too and their customer service. Lots of YouTube videos of all those coilovers with problems. After reading more about them I scratched all of them off my list.

I have the new Bilstein adjustable 6112's
https://us.bilstein.com/en/product/bilstein-b8-6112/

I looked at ICON, KING, Dirt Logic and FOX. They all looked great and I couldn't make up my mind which one to buy. I started searching and I read a lot of posts on other forums, everything from street queens, mud hawgs and overlanders. I also searched youtube for hours and hours watching coilover videos from owners of various makes/model trucks suvs trying to decide which coilover was a good purchase for me. After all my searching and reading about them I decided against them, seemed like every one had some issue like seal leaks, noises or just adjustability problems. During my search I found the Bilstein 6112's so I took a chance, figured with lifetime warranty wth., plus many here run the Bilstein 5100's up front. I can't give you a long term review, I have only had them about 3 months now but so far so good.

I'm not trying to talk you out of the other coilovers or convince you on the 6112's, just keep doing research like you are and then decide.

Few people wheel hard enough to legit "need" kings... its all in what you want to pay, both will give you a great ride either way.

Kings service interval is alot shorter then Icons. I have friends that run both and when it comes to actual hard driving offroad the kings win. If you're not planning on doing light prerunning, and just want a street shock get the icons.

Mine are off the shelf standards. I have a Fabtech 6" lift that originally used spacers with the stock front struts. The foxes bolted right in and the ride quality and control is great. I drive my truck daily and we do 3 to 5 desert trips a year. Very happy with my choice.

Like most people are saying, do you really wheel enough or hard enough to warrant the purchase? I feel this choice was a great balance for me.

There is the other logic as well, that fact that sometimes you want what you want if you are gonna use it or not. With that thought, who cares, just get what makes you happy :)

You’ve got a good point lol. My time Offroad is 5% at most. I think for me it’s wanting to have the ability to go hard when I do go Offroad however with that said I drive a nice truck and don’t want to break it either so that thought also Keeps me from going too hard. I had fox 2.0’s with my Carli kit and they were great so maybe I should just stick with what I know. One other thought I’ve had is to go with the fox 2.5 with reservoirs in the front and 2.0’s in the back. The only thing I worry about with reservoir shocks though is them leaking does anyone have any feedback on experience with durability and longevity of reservoir shocks?

After looking and researching for a long time I went with the Icon Stage 3. My 2500 has the air suspension in the rear which gives a great ride and I did not want to lose that ride quality.
There is very few companies that actually designed systems for the air ride and from my research I think Icon and BDS had the best set up and did their homework.
I have the 2.5" lift. I was going to go with the Stage 1 set up and I think it would have done me just as good but I decided on the stage 3.
The ride is great even my girlfriend can't complain. I installed it myself and their directions made it easy. The tech support and sells group where wonderful to work with. It is a growing and up and coming first class company.
It works great on and off road.
I also bought a set of their Alpha 20" wheels.
I get a lot of complements on the stance and the wheels. People that have ridden in it all love the ride.
