Differential Service

I had my 2500 4X4 Diesel in for an oil change, filter, and both fuel filters. I was told I needed a front and rear differential service. I don't see that in any part of the manual's maintenance schedule. The truck has +/- 35,000 miles on it. I don't tow on a regular basis. Has anyone else heard of this requirement? Recommendations? I've always thought this would be more like a 100,000 mile item? I'm all about preventative maintenance but I also don't want to pay for anything unnecessary dealer service dept. BS...

Changing/ inpecting the diff and transfer case oil is usually recommended every 60,000 with just about every manufacturer including Ram. You will see this in your owners manual as well. The service writer is just trying to up sell service which is what he gets paid to do. Tell him you will get back with him on that in another 25,000 miles when the owners manual says to change it.

I believe he is spot on with the intervals.

I personally like nice round numbers though, so I generally do my own at 50,000...

I have had the same story and they told me it needed to be done earlier due to extreme conditions. DO NOT TAKE your Truck to MAC Haik in Georgetown. They make up services you don't need to do yet.
