Hello all

just bought a new to be ram. 2011 laramie, crew cab, short bed, rwd, 3.92 rear end with anti-slip, 44k miles.

i did a lot of research on this site before buying, and I think it allowed me to make a good decision and get a good deal.

i bought it from a dealer where they gave me the run down of what they did when the previous owner turned it in. new fluids, brakes, 100pt inspecition yadda yadda. with all that being said, do any of you have any recommendations as to things I should absolutely do or look into now that I have it?

im not looking to mod it at all, just looking to be proactive in maintenance and hopefully squeeze 150k out of it without major investment.

Don't trust the dealership. Did they provide receipt with fluids that were changed? Double check these yourself as dealership may not want to spend money for no reason doing so called maintenance for free... They just want to make the most money on the sale. Maybe have it checked by your mechanic and follow the regular maintenance schedule that's in your truck manual.

Consider changing oil to synthetic. RedLine is popular here with royal purple brand filter. Some advocate for using heavier grade oil 5-30 instead of 5-20.

they did provide me with a service sheet, but I will do my best to double check. the service sheet said that they changed all the brake pads as well and I can confirm that these were changed. I will certainly be moving everything over to synthetic when i do my next change.

the one thing I've read on these sites that I'm concerned about is the cylinder misfire that usually destroys one of the cams. is there anyway to be proactive to reduce risk of this?

:welcome::party36: If you get a misfire code, get it fixed immediately, don't continue to drive. The 5.7L Hemi is a reliable engine that with proper maintenance will last a long time. Should make it to 200,000 miles.
I personally use AMSOIL 5w20XL oil and a Mobil 1 synthetic performance oil filter, both changed every 5,000 miles.

Welcome to the fam. Keep your eyes and ears on those exhaust manifold bolts. If/when one breaks/stretches the mani will banana pretty quickly and pull on the others.
Sounds like you found a nice truck!

yes - familiar with that issue as well, considering its pretty common on most trucks these days.

i do think i found myself a nice truck. I crawled under there today to prep it for fluid film and couldnt believe how clean it was. i can still read all the factory stickers.
