Greetings,

I have a 2017, 2500, 6.4, crew cab, long bed, gooseneck, horse hauler.

Does anyone have suggestions for a tonneau/toolbox combo for this setup?

This truck will get worked hard so looking for rugged gear. An aux gasoline tank worked in somewhere would be a bonus.

Thanks!

PERAGON for the tonneau cover. I had one on my Tundra. They're awesome 100% aluminum and powder coated. They're only 700 bucks. When they are folded up only take up about 10" in the front of the bed.

I run the Undercover Flex. I’ve had it on the truck since the truck was new, I’ve had it in extreme heat and extreme cold. While I t doesn’t have a tool box or a fuel tank option, the newer ones may, I haven’t looked in almost 4 years now lol. It’s held up really well for the abuse I have put it through. I have never botherd to use any special wipes or Luquid to keep it shinny or looking new so it has faded like the way some black plastic on older vehicles does, but it still looks good IMO. Only time it ever got water in the bed was when it rained, the rain froze, then it snowed “ 3 feet” then rained again.
It wasn’t that much water, I suspect the water in the drains froze so when it started melting off the water had no where to go. But the area as a whole was a damn soup bowl due to the rain/snow/rain effect.. so a minor amount of water in the bed I was completely ok with. I’ve had it folded up with over 140 pounds of dogs jumping up onto it and off of it repedidly, never any issue. Good luck on your search.

Thank you for the response. Looks like a nice piece of gear, however, I’m looking for a toolbox that you could chuck a winch into for years to come.

Another nice piece of gear. I think a farm truck might get too much dirt and whatnot in the tracks. Thanks for the post tho!

What's the budget? How heavy duty does the tool box need to be? There is a tool box that has a bed cover that rolls up into it. You could get one for the 6'4 bed and then mount a fuel tank in front of that and make some flashing to go between them. It's a expensive option but about the only way I can see making it all work. Other wise you may end up with a tool box under the bed cover. Any way you skin it your looking at something custom probably.

I was starting to think the same thing. Something custom. Either a low profile toolbox/tank with a rollup that can open from either end (is there even such a thing?), or a get toolbox/tank where the latches are higher than the top of the bed, and add flashing or an angle of some sort for a short bed roll up to mount to. One would have to put a bulkhead or something in to separate the toolbox/tank from the rest of the bed otherwise rest of the bed wouldn’t be weather proof. Water would get in from the front and sides of the box. I’m leaning towards the 1st option. Less custom work, more weather proof and easier to strap big items in against the toolbox when necessary.
