Hey guys,

While out driving today, I kept hearing a popping noise coming from the rear end under acceleration from a low speed. At first I thought it was a rear shock but I couldn't reproduce the sound when swerving left to right. It seems to only happen when starting from a stop or at a low speed when I accelerate. I'll hear 2-5 rapid creaking pops coming from the rear. I've read up on some common issues like the u-joints causing vibration and things like that but I don't think that is the cause. Anyone ever experienced this or have suggestions for what to check?

Thanks

U Joints. Would be my first guess. Can you jack it up with a friend and put it in drive and see if u can pin point the noise. If it sounds like it is coming from the drive shaft then it is definitly U Joints- the drive shaft will carry the clicking/ popping noise all the way down it. First time I ever had u Joints go bad, I swore it was the damn drive shaft due to I was standing right next to the drive shaft” truck was on a lift” and could hear it clear as day. My buddy was like nope- u joints... I thought he was crazy, but we changed em and sure enough.. he was right.
