Like all 6.4 owners I have noisy injectors. I only notice it when on the throttle or when I put my truck in drive to pull out of my garage. I only drive my truck on weekends or when we take trips so it doesn’t bother me 24/7 but I am getting rather fed up with it. Some people are obviously more sensitive to the noise and I am one of those people. So on a serious note, has anyone found anything that helps to quiet them down, any additives?. I am tempted to give the Aces V a try, just don’t have the coin at the moment for it, so please chime in if you have found an atitive that has helped.

I've had 3 6.4l engines (1 truck and 2 Challenger) and they r just a noisy engine. I'd say noise insulation would be ur best bet.

Mine are not noticeable with the hood closed or in the cab, but can hear them with the hood open. Some guys have claimed success with an Upper Cylinder Lube or a small amount of TC-W3 marine outboard oil added to the gas. I know members Syn and U&A have used/may still use the TC-W3.

I've used Lucas fuel treatment and that tends to quiet them. I don't use it all the time, just give it a shot every now and then. Deffinately notice a difference between treated and untreated, however it would be expensive to run it constantly.

Sorry but my injectors are not quieter than a 2014 New ******’s. Next to other 6.4”s theirs all sound like mine. When I pop the hood- I can hear the valve train- but when I’m moving in traffic or not in traffic I can hear the injectors. My wife and kids frown aupon the loud music to drown it out. When I hear it over my mufflex kit is when it irritates me the most. I actually put some Lucas in it today and about 200 miles. Sadley the truck is gonna basically sit all week, so hope fully next weekend I can tag on some miles and see if the Lucas helps.

When I read your comments saying you could hear it over your exhaust I thought "those must be different injectors". They are.

The 2014's came with injector part#4627479AA.

The 2015's-up came with injector part#4627479AB.

The AAs were only used on the 2014 Ram 6.4s and were replaced by ABs after that one year run. There was obviously something wrong there.

Since yours is a '14, was the wrist pin issue applicable?

Yes it was, but I have 44k now and it’s been good so far. It’s deffinetly the injectors. At idle in park you can’t hardley hear them. As soon as I put it into drive or reverse you can hear them. They get louder as I pedal for more throttle. I may try and reach someone some how to see about getting mine upgraded. Last time I tried to bring the noise to the service advisors attention he shrugged it off to “ normal sound” but it’s gotten louder, I actually test drove a 18 night edition 1500 and it was quiet as could be. So I think I have the upper hand as to it being “ normal “ cause they are ridiculously loud. I’ve never heard injectors this loud before, if my driver side window is down I can hear them over my exhaust at almost any RPM.

Hmmmm, mine is a 14 as well. Can't say that I have any unusual sounds (injectors or otherwise). Unless it's something I've gotten used to?

Certainly I don't have anything so loud I'd be able to hear it above aftermarket exhaust.

I'd be very interested to hear what it turns out to be. Keep us updated!

I don't get anything like this on my '17. I can only hear typical valve train noise when the hood is wide open at idle and even that seems to have quieted down from when the truck was brand new.

I've got a noisy '16 6.4L as well... was hoping the mufflex would drown it out, but no such luck. You don't realize how bad it is til you drive with the windows down... especially uphill or under load.

This is interesting. Can one of you guys try to capture the sound on video?

Have your trucks been doing it since new?

Interesting for sure. For those with loud injectors, what octane and brand(s) of gas are you running?

I’ve been running chevron 89 lately- I have tried 87 and 91. It seems to have gotten louder over the last 6 months. I will try and capture it tonight when I get home from work, it’s easy as hell to hear in my garage, almost sounds like a exhaust leak, but it’s not

I always run 93, either shell or BP. On shell engine seems to run better but more injector noise. BP runs good with less injector noise. I've just grown to accept the injector noise as just general engine mechanical noise. I don't know this for a fact but it seemed like the injectors started making more noise after I installed Carven muffler.

Sorry, I just remembered this was about 6.4 injectors, I have a 5.7.

Has anyone actually pinpointed the exact item with certainty to make this mysterious noise? I think it's different things to different people. The new 19 coming has special noise cancelling module in the frame, inside the body panels @nd engine comp@rtment.

Mine is barely noticeable in park, but as soon as I put it into drive the noise is there. It gets louder as rpm climbs.
The balance train on the 6.4 is noisy but it has a very specific sound to it, and anyone who has stood next to their truck while it is running with the hood up has said “ damn that”s loud”. The valve train noise doesn’t bother me, the injectors drive me up the wall.
